My unit exhibits the EXACT same behavior - No external amp connected. With front channels disconnected, the unit will function until volume is increased (past 20 or so).

    How do I check the output-transistor ? I have a voltmeter handy =)

    Thanks in advance!

This worked for mine, anyways...

My Sherwood / Newcastle R-945 unit kept shutting itself off directly after powering up - turned out that one of the speaker wires had a fault - found after disconnecting all inputs / outputs as recommended (and searching / testing with voltmeter).

Thanks for the assist!

Disconnect everything from the unit and see if it still does it.
if it does i would check the output transistor (ic).

My sherwood rx 4109 has no sound what do i do

Pull the sherwood power cord from the wall for 20 minutes. On the back of sherwood, check all cables and make sure they are in the correct places. Check speaker wires and make sure they are connected. 1)After 20 minutes, turn power on to sherwood. 2) select an input (radio, cd, etc.) 3) Push play. 4) Turn volume to desired level.

Getting sound on turn-on is intermittent

If you can open the case and check for dust and dirt collection, that might help. If dust accumulation occurs it coats the electronics and may cause over-heating. Over heating will create temporary shorts and in time total failure. Vacuum the interior and make certain the unit has good venation. Warped circuit boards act in that fashion also.

My powre subwoofer in not working with the sherwood r-945. Can you help.

Hi,
I assumed that your receiver has a SUB RCA jack on the back..
find out the SUB output 1xRCA plugs of your receiver on the back and connect it to the 1x RCA input of your Sub...you just need a RCA cable .

Take care and if it succeeds please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

Keeps turning itself off

If Both speakers are working at a low volume and you turn it up and it clips and shuts off you have one of 3 problems. you have over driven your speakers and one has shorted the voice coil but still will work at low volume, its a overload protection for ohms short in receiver. unhook each speaker and turn balance to the one hooked up and turn up receiver if it shuts off do the same with other speaker to determine which side is bad. 2 speaker wires are touching at speaker or receiver. 3 a bad receiver output transister. Good luck.

Sherwood rv 6030r does not turn on.

Try these simple trick to find out yor remote control working or not....
Point the remote control towards the Camera of a Mobile Camera phone, with the camera on. While pressing remote, we can see a light (Infra Red) coming from its IR LED through the Mobile Camera if the Remote is working.
If the remote is OK, then the problem with the Remote Sensor or related components of the receiver.

No power

The Sherwood R-945 has at least 6 fuses inside - any one of them could keep the system from powering on properly. The lowest power fuse is rated at only 35 MILIamps, I believe ( it's element is barely visible to the naked eye ). Check that all fuses are intact (with the power off)

My R-945 unit kept shutting itself off directly after powering up - turned out that one of the speaker wires had a fault - (found after hours searching with voltmeter). Check that all Inputs / Outputs are secure.

Good luck with yours!
