Question about Canon PIXMA iP4200 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Printout I have had my ip4200 for over a year and it has delivered excellent photos using Photoshop 7. However it is now delivering pictures with a definite horizontal banding, particularly evident in sky areas. I have tried taking the head out and cleaning it carefully in water but the fault remains. Any suggestions. Although I am using a full set of Canon cartridges at the moment, I have in the past used a set of compatible cartridges. Ron Atkinson

Re: Printout

Try printing out a test pattern to identify the color in question...

Change that cartridge (Old cartridges do dry up)/evaporate and they can still cause problems after a cleaning.

Run a few cleaning cycles

Enjoy !

Have you heard of Wysywig? What you see is what you get?

Well on color pictures on you monitor you get wysinwyg what you see is not what you get. Monitors are backlit, so colors are much more vibrant than what a printer can generally deliver. Explore the printing properties of your priinter as there are adjustments that can be made to enable better quality and true to color prints. The paper you use to print out your pics is also important in producing color that is close to original.

When you view your pics on screen try adjusting the color hue to the point it becomes overcolored and try a few experimental prints to see what level of the slide is needed to be used to achieve a brighter more vibrant picture. I would also like to say that the Canon 210 , whilst it is a very good printer, is at the cheaper end of the photo printer scale.

Talk to your ink and paper supplier, they can often show you or recommmend printers that are much higher and more accurate in delivering brighter and true to color photos.

Why does the entire photo printout with a pinkage color overlay when indicating using glossy photo paper, even different photo paper. This occurs with several different programs not just Photoshop. I've...

That happens if you put photo cyan where the plain cyan ink should be, also photo magenta is too weak to be used in the magenta slot. I've also seen generic inks that weren't the right colors.

Samsung SCX-4720F reads "SCANNER LOCKED" and won't copy or scan.

the lock is underneath the scanner where the printed paper gets delivered. when you reach in to get a printout you more than likley have pushed it into the lock position. Once you unlock that blue button by pulling towards you, switch off the printer and again switch on the printer.

Canon Pixma ip4200--

I read somewhere that if the printer receives instruction from the PC that it requires black only printing (e.g. a letter in Word) then it will use the 5PGBK tank. The 8BK tank is used with the other colours in photo printing only. If you check the greyscale option, it will use ink from the 8BK tank and mix with the CMY colours to print, but I have not tried this out.
Good luck

Trouble printing to photo paper

The paper you print on is not relevant. What happens is the green tint is the actual printer delivering all the colours to give a 'composite' black. On shiny photo paper this is emphasized where as on plain paper the colour is absorbed and shows as intended. So what can you do? Move away from black and go for a tint such as sepia.
