My Glo Warm keeps automatically shutting off.

When it gets extremely cold outside and the glo warm reaches its set temp, it not only shuts off but the pilot goes out too and I have to relight the pilot which is also a headache at this point.

    Pilot keeps going out?

  • RonnieIsaacs Oct 28, 2008

Mine don't have a set temp but it just randomly shuts off everything does. I have lived here for about 5 years and never had a problem with it. Then when I went to get it going this year it started doing this. At first I thought it was just contaminates in the line but I know I have had it running long enough that it has cleared the line.

My natural gas glo warm gwn6 wall heater keeps shutting off

Julie, the problem you're having with your DESA, Gas Glo Warm heater may be the result of a clogged Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) which is part of the pilot. I have included a link on how to clean the pilot and the ODS, as well as the burner, that you can download and print for future reference.

http://www.desatech.com/techDocs/Cleaning%20Demonstrations.pdf

In addition, the thermocouple may be failing and will need to be replaced. To troubleshoot this, here is another link that will help you. http://www.desatech.com/techDocs/Thermocouple%20Troubleshooting.pdf

If after doing all of the above and you fin it's necessary to replace the Thermocouple, You can purchase one from A & B Sales

When its cold outside my glo-warm propane heater will not stay burning, both the flame and pilot light go out.

Pressure in your tank drops with cold; you may need to tent it and provide a moderate heat source to keep up the pressure. Just like tire pressure- drops when cold. Thanks, please leave feedback or contact me again for more info if you need it.

Glo warm heater

These are vent-free heaters and use an oxygen-depletion sensor to shut a unit off if there is not a sufficient amount of oxygen available for combustion. It is either doing it's job and you may have to open or crack a window while it's operating.
