Toshiba 50A62 Remote Infrared Sensor

No remotes will work to power on, change channels or volume. All has to be done from the front panel. I tested the various remotes and batteries (used cell phone to view the infrared signal coming from the remotes).
Looks like the internal receiver sensor (part number is 23000852 behind the TV screen ?) is the culprit ?
Never saw a sensor behind the screen before. I checked a supplier ( and they have the sensor for $ 1.55

Mitsubishi WD-60735 Control issues

This set has aside from the recessed front reset two more done with the Mitsubishi remote.

The soft reset "should" be with set on Menu, 1,2,3, enter

The hard reset requires a 4 digit number code and is based on model number and also done with the Mitsubishi remote--try to see if soft reset works at all on this model.

Where is the remote sensor for the Toshiba 50A62?

Remote sensor is an internal component, and can be locakted just beneath the remote sensor window at the front panel of all TVs. It is usually a three terminal black colure component, diretly soldered to a circuit board. In some sets, it will be on a seperate circuit board, and in some otheres it will be soldered to the front panel control switches board. OK.

Model ws-55711, remote doesn't work but I don't believe it is the remote control, can only change station up or down manually, cannot adjust volume or others manually...

If you can change channels with remote then TV is OK because it has only one infra red receiver (remote receiver) to catch remote signals.
So TV remote seems bad as it works on channel buttons only.
Here is an easy test for remote, watch remote front through any digital camera or even cellular phone camera will work and press channel button on remote, you will see blinking LED at front of remote while watching it through camera. Now press other buttons of remote and I'm sure that LED wont blink.

I have Toshiba, model #50HDX82, remote will not work

Since it is done with infrared transmitters and receivers, one can't tell by looking if the remote or its mate is at fault,
If you are fortunate enough to have a surviving service shop in your area, call them and ask if they have a tester for these. The tester is primitive and cannot tell if the output pulses are correct but can at least determine if any signal is being sent to your set. If the test proves OK. then the receiver end has failed and, unless the IR receive is on a separate board (some are), you will have to call in a service tech and pay the freight for a repair.
On some sets, peering in the rear with the back panel removed, one can see if there is a small board behind the IR window of the set. If you see this, you should be able to order a new assembly from the factory service people.
If the remote proves bad, you can get most original remotes from:

Tv turns on manually, but auto flips through channels and you can't use remote

Found this in another forum ( and it fixed my remote problem:

"'s possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."

Remotes do not work and front panel will not allow me to select input or change volume

I figured it out. It is, in fact, the front panel board. Disconnecting it sloves all issues. A contact in one of the tact switches must be stuck or giving an abnormal resistance value to the system. Once disconnected, the remote works correctly. I'd rather replace the entire board than try fixing/replacing a tact button only to have another fail in the future. I've heard this has also been an issue with the power button.
