My Hobart N50 arrived with clear oil leaking from the toggle switch. There is also a slight knocking sound coming from the planetary when running. The knock is the same frequency on all three speeds. How can I add oil to this model? Thanks!

The bondo is on the top cover, most likely covering the screw holes up. I've scrapped the paint off and see bondo on it, I know it also has been repainted a few times as well. It just strikes me odd to find this. thanks.

remove the 2 screws on the top cover--when you lift the cover up youll see a nut on the center shaft--remove this.top left youll see 2 small shafts with 2 nuts on each shaft--remove them.then around the casing will be 4 more screws--remove them.youll see 2 small round covers--get a flat head screwdriver and pry up these covers.get a gear puller or 2 BIG screwdrivers and where you removed the round covers pry up the transmission cover.if your going to disassemble the transmission goto hobartcorp.com and search for your model.get the exploded view under parts manual fot the transmission, this will help you to reassemble the transmission.

What oil should I use for the Hobart Mixer P660?

A good standard 90 wt oil is what is ok for the gearcase. This is an old email from a hobart service tech and they recomend a special oil ordered from them. So you can decide which you want to use. "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. Hobart part #102973-13. This IS NOT a food grade oil. If you mixer is leaking you shouldhave it serviced. Service, parts , lubricants and information canbe obtained by contacting your local Hobartoffice in Pittsburgh@ (412) 788-5380. Steve Davis Field Engineer -

What type of gear lube should I use for my Hobart H600 mixer?

Hi, btperduell

below is a copy of an e-mail from Horartservice.com. I searched the web forhours for the correct oil and could not find any info so I e-mailed Hobart. The Planetary is a different part from the transmission andthe sight glass on a M802 is for the oil in the transmission. The answer that Hobart gave is not an NSF oil. Ineeded the oil for the planetary section on a model M802. Even the directionssay that it is normal for a drop of oil to occasionally drip from the seal. That is where the dough hook attaches. I am in the process of researching the oil and Exxon / Mobildoes make a NSF version. I just need to find somewhere I can buy less then a 55-gallondrum. The above mixer only uses 6 ounces. Take care and stay safe Thank you Mike Hobart E-mail follows ============================================================== Mike, Hobartuses "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. I have model A-200-D Hobart mixer. Serial # 1575984. It is leaking oil into the bowl. Who can I call to get an estimate to service or repair this machine?

The oil leeking into your bowl is old grease that has broken down into oil and is getting past your oil seal you need to take out all of your old grease and oil replace it with hi-temp grease or a good grade lithium grease and replace your agitor shaft oil seal

I have oil coming from the front of a hobart a200 mixer,What to look for? and what kind of oil?

If you have oil leaking from the attachment hub, the transmission grease has liquified. The transmission will need to be opened so the old lubricant can be removed, by scooping it out. There aren't any seals in the attachment hub, just two torrington needle bearings. The helical gears thrust the pinion gear onto a thrust bearing in the hub to create a seal. The hub has a return hole in it's casting for excess lube to return internally. It's possible the return hole is restricted. On the other hand, if the machine has been filled with oil, it will probably leak like a siv.
The new lube should be 35 OZ of mobil XPH 222,
Hobart part number is 103881-47 for 32OZ.

HOBART H600 Leaks oil.

There's an o-ring that goes around the attachment shaft,if you get a flashlight and look into the hole you will see a screw (left handed threads),remove screw and pull out shaft.Put the o-ring on and install the shaft and screw.

Old hobart s-30 mixer oil

man you got an oldie but goodie mixer!im a hobart service tech for 8 years and have only seen about two dozen, unfortuantly parts for these units are exhuasted.as for the sight glass they do become cloudy over time and you cant determine the oil level.use a heavy gear case oil.the only way of telling is to drain the oil or if the unit is loud you should probably cange the oil.
