Lexmark X1270 Loose Spring

Can anyone tell me where I can find a picture of the inside of my printer so I can see where to replace a spring that fell off the right side? It is causing a cartridge stall error and I cannot print at all. HELP PLEASE!

Hello. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Unplug the printer from the power source. Check the inside of the printer where the ink carrier is. Look for anything out of the ordinary (loose strip, belt or springs). If none, close the printer, plug the power, and when the printer's ready, re-insert the cartridges. If printer is still banging the carrier to the sides, it's a hardware/mechanical problem in the printer. If that's the case, I advise you to call Lexmark.

I have a dell V305 Printer and there is a plastic strip that has fallen off from somewhere inside. Can you advise as to what this strip is for and if it can be reinstered?

If it's a clear plastic with black lines on it, it's the encoder strip. If the holes on the end are not torn out, it installs inside from the right side to the left side, one side has a spring to connect to and the other side has a solid hook on the frame. It has to thread thru a sensor slot at the rear of the carriage assembly in order to work.

Canon MP530 print head malfunction

I had the same problem with my printer. There is a switch that tells the printer that the cover is open or closed. Unplug the printer. Open up the printer cover and look on the inside right side edge. About half way back, you'll see a 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch hole where this switch resides. If you put your finger into it, you may be able to push on a lever and it will go down. It should spring back up when you pull your finger out. If you can feel the lever but it just sits at the bottom then there either this lever is broken or the spring fell off.

The problem with my printer was the spring had popped out. To access the switch, you'll need to remove the right side cover. Do this by removing the two screws in the back on the right side. Open the printer cover and find the third screw. It is located on the right hand side, near the front of the printer, on the top. Remove this screw and pop out the cover and see if you can find the spring that is attached to the lever. Make sure you do this in an area that if a small piece fell out you could find it.

Look at the switch and lever. If there is no spring attached to the lever then it is most likely the problem, otherwise the switch may be bad or the electronics inside the printer. There is a hook on the lever and one on the printer. Reconnect the spring and it should fix the problem. I found my spring had completely fallen out and fell on the floor when the cover was opened. It is possible that this spring if fallen out can fall back inside the printer so you may have to shake the printer to find this little spring. It is about 1/2 inch long. Hope this helps.

X73 found loose spring

I was having a similar problem. After finding the service manual (4402_X73.pdf) and taking the thing apart, an ink-covered broken spring fell from the inside. I checked around the 'Maintenance Station' and found the other half still hanging. Apparently -because I haven't got a replacement yet to confirm- the spring goes across the bottom of the 'Maintenance Station' to a lever on the other side. If someone can tell me where to post a picture of the thing, I'll gladly do it.

this spring is behind the cartridge dock. If you look carefully the placky part holding the hole caboodles is snapped but it don't worry me as it's out of service now anyways, it's also a X1160 but the gut's are more than likely the same if that's not the spring in question there are a few other springs but not likely to effect the print error?
hold on let's just take a few more snaps and put them under the most likely one...
on second thoughts ignore all that it maybe the one attach

this spring isn't attached but you should see where it hooks up to, on the left of the highlighted part of the pic. ( the printer has been dismantled so it's not shown with all the exact parts but you should be able to distinguish from what is shown hopefully)
this one is in the middle of the machine to the left of the PCB (yes or nay)
