After trying to plug in headphones (in the headphone socket) I have lost all sound on my Toshiba satallite 2040 (Idid have sounds from built in speakers before hand) can you help

Hi

You have not mentioned which operating system you are using.

You might have changed the defaul audio settings.

Vista/Windows 7: Start > Cxontrol Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices > Hardware & Sound > Manage Audio Devices > highlight the external speakers from the list of devices > Set Default > Apply > OK > Restart computer.

Win XP: Start > Cxontrol Panel > Sounds Speech & Audio Devices > Hardware & Sound > Change the Speaker Settings > Advanced > Speaker Setup - select Internal Stereo Speakers > Apply > OK > Restart computer.

I hope this helps.

My speakers are making voices and music and any sound that comes out of it a higher pitch. I mean the people sound like they are from alvin and the chipmunks! how do I fix this???

you will need to locate the volume button at the bottom right hand off desktop and change the volume settings, i cant say exactly witch setting to change because i don't know what software you are using. But something in those settings is causing this.
Any further questions please ask.
Correct? vote would be usefull.# Thanks.

No sound

Hi there,
Firstly make sure that you :
  • Check the audio cable connector. (Connect the audio cable to the sound card of your computer.)
  • Make sure the computer sound program is working.
  • Change the volume on sound setting. Adjust your sound card or computer volume setting.
if all the issues above have been checked and still not produce sound, then maybe you need a User's Guide.
here I included the User's guide download Link (PDF):

You can ask me for more assist, and I'll be glad to help you more.

Part of my speakers are just not working. Hooked up, and unhooked and re hooked, but not all speakers working. Right now just 2 of seven are working.

If u have a surround sound card that supports up to the amount of speakers u have (5.1 or 7.1) try change the speaker settings in control pannel as follows.

Start>control pannel>sound>
and see if u have the setting on stereo, if so change it to the 5.1 or 7.1 setting.

If u have software on the otherhand for your sound card you can configure the settings there to change from stereo to surround sound.

Hope this helped :)

No sound when phone disconnected

Hello!

in sound settings (in control panel) you shold find the computers sound card and set that as default soundcard.
And in the settings (preferences) menu in the software you use to perform calls you just specify your computer phone as sound device.
