Re: no power

Take the rear cover off, and check the main fuse. If blown, then replace it with the same rating fuse. Next item inline would be a surgister that would have blown. I would check the fuse 1st, and then if you have a multi-meter, check for continuity through the surgister.

TV will not turn on

Check for burned out resistors, capacitors and diodes in the HOT ZONE on the chassis. It appears that your power supply is not generating enough power for your TV to start up. There is a high probability that there is some capacitor that gone bad. But still check everything just to be sure.

Electricity went out and not flat screen will not come on

Hi, this was a very powerful surge that has occurred during the power outage. the surge has fried the power sector of your set. you will need to replace the damaged power board/flyback in this case. this will restore the normal power flow in the set.

Nothing you can do. A competent technician will have to study and replace components in the deflection circuits.

No picture

Try a "hard restart". which simply means unplugging the power cord of the TV, and replugging it after 4 hours have passed. This technique reprograms the electronics, to a certain extent.
You can also visit the manufacturer's website or call their tollfree number for problem solving info.
Hope these suggestions help you out.

Turning on TV after power outage

Not sure what you mean by "older", but I assume it's a CRT display. It takes some time for a picture tube to come up from a completely cold start. It has to get all of those electrons hot enough to start flying around, and also build up a high voltage on the screen. You don't notice it in normal operation because the power button doesn't really turn everything off, but just puts the set in standby mode. Unplugging, though, lets everything cool off completely.

If you're talking real antiques, with tube-type amplifiers, then the warmup time could be even longer. I remember as a kid watching the blank screen for a couple of minutes before a picture appeared.

What you describe sounds like normal behavior for a CRT television. Not sure what's up with that flickering red light, though.

Red screen

This problem occurs when there is defect in the chroma demodulator circuit. The usual symtom is a red or magenta color rastor with white retrace lines about 3/4' apart through out the display area.
In the worst case scenario, it could also be a defective picture tube. In either case, this is something only a qualified TV repair technician can service.
I hope you still have warranty left on this TV..
