Samsung hpr4262 blank screen

I know the Lower PDP P-Y buffer went bad since one of the chips was smoking, but after replacing the buffer i still have a blank screen. Is there a reset that needs done or where else should i begin tracing the problem to?

I just fixed 2 tv for the same problem last week. You got to replace the Y-Main PCB too. When the scan IC got burned it burned the Y-Main as well.

Blank screen = Bad bulb CCFL (red screen) = cathodes brown = Lamp burnt.

since the TV s not so old the problem may not be in LCD.. it must be with lamp..

Hi everyone! I have a pioneer pdp-5071pu 50'' plasma. I'm having a screen/picture problem. 2/3 of the screen is good picture (top),then just below half screen there are two grainy green lines, then...

The Y Lower buffer is the most likely culprit. I would first try to firmly tap on the TV... about 3" below the center line on the right side front (not on the screen but right next to the screen). The Y Lower connector is there and it could be just loose. I have a Philips 50" plasma that the lower half went out and a gentle tap fixed it once. I took it apart and tightened the connectors by loosening the screws and pushing the Y Lower buffer toward the Y Main board while tightening the screws back. No problem with it since. But sometimes the buffers go bad on these units and need to be replaced. Some people replace the upper and lower at the same time while others say just replace the bad one.

Good luck and let me know what you find!

I have an LG Plasma Model#DT42PY10X. IT HAS A RED LINE RUNNING DOWN THE RIGHT HAND SIDE AND i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THANKYOU

Hi:
If the line is less then 2 inches wide this us a good indication of a bad PDP panel (Screen) usually very thin lines indicates a failure in the screen itselg, altho you might try replacing the upper and lower buffer boards to ensure its not the screen. You might want to take off the back and try reseating all connectors leading to the buffers and the Digital board. But in my experience thin lines less then 2 inches usually results in a bad PDP.

No picture, just sound, blown y buffer board twice1

a4.. there are 2 of them, upper and lower buffer boards.. they control the top and lower half of screen devided horizontally, i have had many run ins with these sets. and usually the buffer boards arent cheap.

they plug into the ysus( y sustain).. its possible your y sustain is blowing the buffer moduals because one of its i.c.'s under the heatsink has popped on ya.. effectively creating a short that blows the buffer boards.
remove the buffer boards, turn tv on... feel the 2 silver heat sinks on that y sustain( beware dont zap urself.. just the tip of your finger on the heatsinks)

you may find that one is cold and one is hot...if so, you need a new y sus and probably to replace the buffer boards the a4 upper and a4 lower.

If you get a new ysus.. plug the a4 upper and lowers into it, look at your picture.. if ur missing the top half the top buffer is blown or lower half the bottom buffer is blown. or..no picture they could both be blown..an easy way to tell if u have no picture to diagnose is..touch the heatsinks that sit over the chips on the buffers..if they are red hot.. they are bad and shorted internally.

Perfect pic on top half of screen bottom half blank

Most likely the lower y-buffer board which is mounted to the left of the panel in the back of the TV is bad. I believe you can get LG equivalents for these boards. There should be part numbers on the board itself..

Samsung HPR4252 with red horizontal lines accross the screen

I just had my HP-R4252 repaired on 12.05.09 with a similar problem. The picture is covered in horizonal, broken lines and the color is predominately red. They lines are grouped together in large bands across the screen.

The tech replaced the Y-Buffer boards (Up) and (Low) in about 20 minutes.

Half the screen has gone black

Ok first lets start with the half screen and no lit screen . Samsung plasma panels (S42AX-YD01) HD V4. are really bad about the Y-board (upper, lower) buffers are really bad about getting hot and burining up. If u remove the back cover of TV u will see on the left side the Y-board (it will be marked in small letters) if u look and the rows of IC's with heatsinks on the buffers will be a dark yellow. Majority of the time if u remove the buffers. and look underneath them u will see the solder has melted from the board. U can replace the Y-board and buffers and the TV will work fine.
Next part if u have vertical lines in the panel. There is not much u can do as a repair. Only thing u can do is get panel replaced. because there is and IC that is burned up on the panel, and trust me there isn't anything u can do to fix it. If u want to see for yourself. After removing the back cover, remove SSB, and brackets holding PDP in place. at the bottom of TV there is a row of buffers marked E,F,G, ( i think) there is a long heat sink covering the IC's at the bottom connected to the bottom of PDP. As u can see without a $70k machine to change this there is not much u can do with it. Hope this helps.
