How do I get the headphones to work, when plugged into the DVD Player?
The sound will only come out over the speakers and we get no sound out of the headphones. Is there a special button or something we are not pushing? Please help.
I have a 2005 f-150 and it was bought used, no wireless headsets and remote but i learned if you push buttons 2 and 4 together on the cddeck you can use the radio through the speakers and the kids in the back can used the headphone jacks to listen to the dvd player.

get a splitter that allows you to plug 2 sets of headphones in the portable dvd player.
The sound is the only place were this machine falls short. The sound is okay at best with the built in speakers, but any background noise makes it nearly impossible to hear anything from them even with the volume all the way up. Not surprising since due to the size of the player the speakers are only a little bigger then headphone speakers, but with headphones or portable plug-in speakers the sound is superb. Besides the sound the only 2 complaints are that you can not control the volume with the remote and that the power switch is too easily turned on by accident (do not travel with the battery attached or you will find you have no charge when it comes time to watch a movie). The battery lasts 3.5 to 4 hours, long enough for 2 short movies or 1 long one. -------------------------------- also checkout The volume button is on the right side of the uint. -------------------- , headphones are a must, or get a device to play the audio through your car stereo ($15-$25). The player has the option to either input or output the A/V so you could play video games on the run or you could hook up a VCR and watch VHS...be creative
If you have a factory DVD player, then while the DVD player is on, press your radio preset numbers' 2 and 4 simultaneously. Then to listen to the CD or radio just press whichever button you want to listen to. You should hear sound out of your front speakers only, and won't interrupt the headphones. Good luck.
We have a GMC Envoy which also does not allow us to play the sound from the dvd player through the car's speakers. Although we purchased the vehicle new with the dvd player already installed, it was installed by the dealer, making it after-market. I assume those that were installed in the factory work differently. Maybe this is the case with your's as well. Good luck!!
Have you recently used headphones in this device? I have a portable DVD player that had a similar problem. It thought that headphones were plugged in and that turned the sound in the external speakers off. If i plugged in headphones the sound worked in them. So I jiggled the headphone plug in while in the jack and removed it and the sound came back on.
