Printer says paper jam and there isn't anything in it

I have tried everything HP's website said to do but none of it worked. There's nothing inside of it. I did a partial reset and still when you turn the printer on it says paper jam. What is wrong with this thing?

All the feeders were turning normally they turned forwards and backwards someone had said something about the paper sensor? where would that be located and how could you tell if it was working or not? It seems the alot of HP all-in-ones have this problem.

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

All the feeders were working properly going fowards and backwards. And I have no idea how to test any electrical parts. HP said they would help me fix it and have it working but it was $35.00 charge. I thought this might be alittle cheaper.

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

Everything is lubricated well. As for the rest not really sure what you were saying

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

    Nope that didn't work either

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

Well, what does serviced mean? HP's website said that. What goes into servicing it? I can take the thing apart and put it back together

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

Still didn't work seems alot of people are having this same problem with the all-in-ones. I'm sure they are all linked some how maybe I should call HP back spend $35 and then sale the information to everyone...lol

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

so I have to just spend my $10.00 for that answer??

  • jfasher Jan 25, 2008

I figured it out myself there's a clear plastic wheel on the side of one of the gears and it has to spin with the gear and that tells the computer if it is jammed if it becomes to where it just sits there and the gear spins like it should the computer doesn't know it is and says it it jammed when it isn't. Now maybe you guys should pay me $10 so you can tell the other people on here what to look for.

Hi,

Is this how you performed the reset?

Leave the printer turned on and then disconnect the power cable from the printer and then press and hold the # and 6 together at the same time while plugging the power cord to the printer and keep on holding the buttons once you see semi-full reset.

Did you try a full reset?

perform the same thing as above but instead of # and 6 press and hold # and 9 and the display will read full reset

Since you have done almost everything in your power to troubleshoot this problem (except taking it apart), I would advise getting the printer serviced. Sorry...

Service simply means to have an HP technician (at a service center) look at it.

Maybe there a problem in the paper loader of your printer. the gear that let the printer loader turn and detect the paper maybe damage. try to disassemble the printer and if you find part that broken maybe you can find replacement on that gear in the service center of that particular printer or model. if this not found in the inside try to examine also the circuit of the printer.

I think if ever the sensor is the problem, that another way off, sensor problem is cause by lossen connection in the cirsuit, if lossen is not conncetion is not the problem then probably you have the circuit of the sensor busted not allowing to communicate to the sensor and load the paper. in this problem the solution either you have to check at your own or the repairman if hard for you do and most probably the HP center that will cost you this $35.

My hp deskjet f2430 is showing that there is a paper jam. I have put paper in the printer and it still shows that there is a jam. How can i fix this?

A paper jam usually means that there is paper stuck inside the printer, I would start by taking a flashlight and looking inside the printer were you put the paper in and make sure there is nothing in the way there. You can also try to open up the printer, most have a few places that you can take apart easily and look inside to make sure there is nothing jammed. If you cannot get into the printer then the next best thing would be to take the printer down to a local computer shop and see if they can tell if there is anything in there really quick. Most decent shops will not pay to look into the printer really quick.

My c5280 says there is a paper jam but there is none.

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Hp6210 says "Paper Jam. Clear Jam and then Press OK". There is no paper stuck in it, nothing visible at all.

Open the rear clean out cover and check for a jam. Or the rear clean out cover could just be off like mine was. I was get out of paper message. So I found a the HP help manual that there was a rear clean out. I reached around back and found that i twas off, I popped it back on and it works just fine now.

Printer says paper jam but there is none

Look Inside of each cover on the printer & see if there is a small piece of paper inside. Also, check if there is loose dust from the paper built up by the sensor switches. If none of these work, try flipping the sensor switches manually. Sometimes these get stuck in a particular bad paper jam.

HP Deskjet 3940 (Paper Jam)

I have a HP Deskjet 3940 printer. And similarly to this problem here I had a paper jam that would not clear, despite removing all the paper that was stuck in it, and following all 4 steps stated on the HP website. Such as taking the back cover off and blowing dust away and turning it off and on, etc.

None of these steps worked for me and consequently I couldnt get any new jobs to print - kept saying 'paper jam'. I was about to head down the shop to buy a new printer when i tried one last thing, which HAS fixed the problem!

I put in a large stack of paper onto the feeder. and then pushed it forcefully in and out repeatedly. To my amazement this has solved the paper jam. As a very last resort, might be worth trying this?
