Question about Audiovox FPE4216P 42 in. Plasma HDTV

Audiovox 07 42 plasma

One area in the screen, always in the same spot, any object that falls in this area of the screen seams to glow red or green. Does not happen all of the time. It comes and goes. The area is about 2 to 3 inches in diameter. This has been going on for about month. Now we have lost video altogether. I have been trying to get it repaired but have been having a hard time getting through to audiovox. Can anyone please help. Thank You

One problem I am having is getting someone to help me. I am in upstate ny Rochester, syracuse area. Getting a work order or anything from Audiovox is almost impossible. They have a Co ppw that handles repairs. They gave me a service company in Syracuse. He does not call back for days and when I finally get him all he tells me is how bad PPW is. I got the name of another repair place from PPW and took the unit there last week. The place looked like something from the 50's and I was shocked at the way this place looked. I am now trying to get my set back from them but can't get a hold of them. I used to do TV repair years ago and am thinking that even though it is still under warranty maybe I should try to repair this myself. If you have am idea on how to get this repaired I would really appreciate it. THANKS JIM

Well actually it is recommended that you get professional help, but as you have saud its almost impossiblw. The Problem is your screen, the plasma cells are damaged. when a high contrach image appears there it will appera to glow.. You dont need an Auiovox tech, any technician should be able to replace the screen. YOu should also seek profession technician for him to have a look at your main board, The screen doesnt just get damaged. Its eighter from high impact, pushing on the screen or an eletrical fault.. Get a local technician to have a look at it, this problem does not require Audiovox experts or certified techs.

well if you have some eletrical skills here is the base ..

The screen is bad you need to change it,

find what cause the screen to get damaged, or what else is damaged

If you need help, google your service manual on line,, it might cost a few bucks, but its worth it if you want to be certin..

As you may know the manual contains step by step repair procedures and well as diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures.

Google command should be like this

    Manufacture Model service manual

I have encountered that issue several times. I want to give you practical solution. There is nothing at user side that we can do. But a qualified hands on technician should check the connector at the display-matrix driver area. Most of the case connectivity issue of the connector or display has the dead zone. Since you mention you lost video totally it will be helpful option to check the display's power input level. You may try authorized service centers of the Audiovox. If you specify your location we may check possible options

Good Luck

Where can i obtain a lamp for the hp plasma tv model#pl4260n

Sorry, your plasma does not take a lamp.

"Plasma flat screen technology consists of hundreds of thousands of individual pixel cells, which allow electric pulses (stemming from electrodes) to excite rare natural gases-usually xenon and neon-causing them to glow and produce light. This light illuminates the proper balance of red, green, or blue phosphors contained in each cell to display the proper color sequence from the light. Each pixel cell is essentially an individual microscopic florescent light bulb, receiving instruction from software contained on the rear electrostatic silicon board. Look very closely at a plasma TV and you can actually see the individual pixel cell coloration of red, green, and blue bars. You can also see the black ribs which separate each."

Red and green snow near the sides of the screen

As in there's blotches of red and green at the edges, but the image is still there?
If so, then your screen may have come into contact with magnets, or maybe the alignments are off (TVs align overlapping images in red, green, and blue).
As always, check with the manufacturer support lines, as they would have specific information for these kinds of scenarios.

Turning on my phillips tv the power button is blinking red

Plasma? Your power supply has bad capacitors. 3300uf most likely. This is a common problem on some Philips plasma TVs. Power board is located top center of the TV with the rear access panel removed. look toward the lower left portion of the board. If you notice any capacitors (they look like little plastic wrapped cans) with swollen tops or leaking dark fluid from the top of them, replace them. Myself, I always step up the voltage rating... ex: 3300uf, 10v -> 3300uf, 16v.

Staining

ahh, that isnt good, the only reason I can say, is, the green stain your referring to, is result of a magnet, or magnetized object coming too close to the screen, thus pulling the color from the screen, depending at which point you put the magnet, it will either be green, red or blue. I dont believe there is fix for it.
