94 honda accord lx, has a code 14. Changed the IAC valve and it went away. Drove it around on highway and stop and go traffic, worked great, just started it again and the code 14 is back and car shut

The code is for a faulty idle air control valve, or faulty computer.
The computer can not control the idle speed by using the valve.
Could be a wiring problem, vac leak, or computer issue.

If it runs fine and the idle is the only problem you could try idling it up some with the idle set screw on the throttle body it sounds like it may be a little bit out of time those toyotas have a fine lins on the timing.

Inspect the coil for cracks or signs of shortage!! Also if there is oil leaking into the distributor, this will cause the coil to burn.

sounds like a broken timing belt,timing belts like to break during engine cranking and engine shut down. there are inspection holes in the timing cover,if you can't determine, remove top half of timing cover and check belt for slap,if there's slap,it's broke.

You are right about the shorted circuit somewhere. A good place to start looking might be with your distributor cap.

could be the coil pack playing up ,or the computer not working properly ,very difficult to diagnose without the right software so i would suggest taking it to a dealer and see what they say

Have your idle control switch check, easy and inexpensive to replace. The idle control switch is what keep the engine stay idle. also have your throttle body clean by a professional having that many miles, it will give you better gas mileage.
