I need to replace the flange that screws into the base of a KitchenAid K45 stand mixer. It's worn, so that the bowl isn't held as securely as it should be. The flange is the part which is held in place on the base by three screws. Where can I get this part?
Hi NBSALE,
I believe you are speaking of the Screw Cap Kit. Do you have your original Part Lists manual
on-hand? If not you can download a PDF
version from the KA website at: If you're lacking one, you can download a PDF
version from the KA website: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click
on Customer Care>Locate Manuals &
Guides> Enter the 6 character model number, in your case use K45SSW, and
select the file listed under Parts List
(1), K45SSWH0.pdf (341.41 KB). Check
to ensure it matches your mixer model.
Turn
to page 3, titled: Base And Pedestal Unit, which provides an exploded view for
the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer’s base and pedestal, along with
all the parts. Find Illus. No. 2, Screw
Cap Kit, Part # 4162529, which is the part that you want to replace.
As
far as parts go, here are four potential vendors in no particular order:
RepairClinic.com; mendingshed.com; searspartsdirect.com; partstore.com. Prices for the same part can vary widely
between vendors, so do your comparison shopping.
Although
you don’t need to get inside the mixer to make this repair, here are some links
to several excellent websites that detail the disassembling/reassembly of a KA
Mixer that you might want to keep in your ‘toolbox’, should you have to delve
inside your mixer in the future.
Between
these three websites and their excellent pictures and descriptions and your
Parts List manual, you should now be able replace any part to your KA mixer.
Good luck and have
fun. I hope this helps. Howard, Burke,
