Question about Kitchen Ranges

GE Medallion 850 Range

I have above range, self cleaning, sealed burners. The wife latched the door to do a self clean, and it won't unlatch. I am unable to find a manual, or anything else online. Model number on the strut is J35SFT-2

Re: GE Medallion 850 Range

It says it my manual that the oven won't unlatch until it has cooled down enough. At this point the red light(s) is supposed to flash.

2. If door not latched:
  1. Disconnect power from unit.
  2. Check wires and connectors from control to latch switch, then from latch switch to control. If no damage to wires and all connectors okay, proceed to step C.

Admiral electric range with self cleaning oven

Hey there gcato1, your problem is actually a protective feature designed to prevent you from getting burned. The self cleaning feature runs at extremely hot temps. Until the temperature reaches a safe level, the oven door will remain latched. Be patient and the problem will solve itself.

My jmp28 range has lights and burners working, we put the range into self cleaning and left it, now the oven display is not lit, it is finished and the door is locked. Tried reseting power, did not help.

The thermal fuse for the controller board has failed. Needs to be replaced.

You can use a screwdriver to unlatch the door by reaching inside the top. You will need a flashlight to see what to push on to disengage.

Can't Get My GE Profile XL44 Self-Cleaning Gas Range to CLEAN ! ! ! ! !

I also have a XL44 (GE JGBP90) and I can't figure out how to latch the door. When I press Self Clean, the display asks me to latch the door, but I don't see a lever. I think it might involve lifting the range, but I don't want to force it. Any ideas?
