I can take pictures in the manual mode but when I put it on the AF mode the shutter release button will not take a picture. It will focus, but not take the picture.

Check the rear optic on your lens. Then may be dust or debris preventing the focus to lock on your subject.

Focus

Could this be failing batteries? If you don't use the flash and keep the camera on the same subject so it doesn't need to refocus between shots, what happens then?

When filming or not the picture becomes blurred for a few seconds every few minutes. Please can you help.

It sounds like it's simply auto-focusing. When you're filming and the camera auto-focus sensor detects a new focus object, it will attempt to refocus on the new object. In lower light situations, this may take longer for the sensor to read the new object. The only way to resolve this is to turn auto-focus off (if your camera allows it). If your subject area remains in the same plane of focus, you shouldn't have any focus issues. If it changes, however, you will have to manually refocus to the new plane, just as you would with a manual camera.

Hope this helps!

While recording the Camcorder goes in and out of focus. If I keep the camcorder running and either zoom or pan out the subject refocuses, but if i hold at that level of focus the subject becomes blurry...

It sounds like you are either too close to the subject or you need to flip the focus switch to automatic.
The Auto/Manual focus button is located on the left side of the camcorder under the LCD monitor flap.
Other than that, does this happen only in low light? The camera will have trouble focusing in low light usually.

Pictures out of focus

Keep the camera on AUTO, and refocus on every shot (push the button down until you see the green cross-hairs in the center of your subject - let up and then "snap" your photo).

To change the battery - open the door on the bottom right.

Use the diopter adjustment to refocus the viewfinder to your eye.

Point the camera at a sign or something with writing on and half press the shutter button to focus then move the little adjuster at the top right of the viewfinder until the image in the veiwfinder is in focus

Lens focus and take

This is usually because there is not enough detail/light that far away that it can focus on. My big lens Nikon D70s sometimes does the same thing. I have to find something at the same distance but with a little more light, press my shutter button down and hold it down until I can shift over to the location of the picture and take the picture.

Hope this helps, if it does, choose FixYa! ThankYa!
