Re: closed caption

Have you verified that the programs you're viewing have closed-captioning service? Some programs and stations do not support CC on programs and commercials. The closed captions are accessed on the HD52W56 by pressing Menu > Preferences > Closed Captions on the remote control and following the onscreen instructions. Select CC1(the first choice for caption); this is the format most stations send in. Good luck!

I need to activate CC for my Dad, Please help I have to go to work. I have a flat screen SOYO

Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description.
Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning
Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function.
Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen.
To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. Alternately, some DVDs include English subtitles that you can turn on in the setup/language menu of the DVD.
Thank you.

Close caption never leaves the screen

Go into your MENU most likely under Audio and look for Closed Caption, it should say on the screen which controls on the remote to navigate with. It might also be under Features you will then be able to turn it off.

Get closed captions on some channels, but not all, even though it is CC

RCA have choices for different methods of CC in user CC menu. Labelled T1, T2, etc. . Different selections are for different types of close caption. Tune to a signal (on your other TV) that has closed caption working.

Tune your RCA to the same signal. Change the T1,T2, etc settings until the closed caption for your signal appears.

If this doesn't work, try connecting analog video or VHF channel 3 (or other specified channel) to the TV. check CC. When TV stations, sat channels, sat receivers, cable boxes etc, convert analog video signals to HD, problems can result. Some equipment causes RCA TVs to do unexpected things with sound and closed caption.

If you use RF or video output, old analog video may look better on CH3 or video than on HD input and the CC will work more consistently. Watch HD signals on HD input, Analog signals on Video in or through the TV tuner . Many HD channels and programs are converted analog video and look poor on TV HD inputs.

No sound

When the unit is unplugged and replugged, it empties these registers of the corrupt data.
fix is to place a 1mfd capacitor to ground on U13101 pin (15). This
swamps the closed caption data to the micro and stops the reception of
the defective data packet. In the event that later on the resolve the
defective data problem the capacitor can be removed. the close
caption feature will not work with this cap. installed

Closed Caption

What we need to do first in a case like this is to first take one of the smaller sets in the house, that have closed caption on it, disconnect the cable from the Mitsubishi TV and reconnect it to the smaller TV set and see and make sure the cable line and or splitter to that line is good. If it still does not work on that line with the differant TV set, Then you know for sure that the cable is at fault or the cable equipment, as I have seen a problem like this a while back. If it does work on the smaller set then we know that the set does have a problem processing the cloised caption circuit and needs a servicer to repair it. You see these sets haqve no user replacable parts inside them because all parts are soldered into place and we need a schematic to trace out the closed caption curcuit. if you think you can handle a problem like this order the schematic online and upload it here and I will be more them happy to assist you to troubleshoot this beast. Good Luck PS Please do not forget to rate this thread.
