Question about Denon AVR-1802 Receiver

1 Answer

Denon AVR-1802 Have had this receiver for 8 years with no problem until now. Today the volume keeps spontaneously increasing. First a little, then gradually gets really loud. I can see the volume numbers on the receiver changing. Ever hear of this problem? Is it fixable?

replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. i had the exact same problem with mine and once i replaced the capacitors it powered up and stayed on and worked perfect.
these capacitors tend to fail as they're of poor quality.
this fault is very common on denon receivers, especially the later models.

hope this helps?

I am trying to use my Denon AVR-1802 to connect my cable box to my TV. The problem is that I don't have any speakers connected to the 1802, I just want to route the cable box's video and audio to the TV...

connect your analog output from the cablebox to the receiver md/tape in. then connect your tv audio input to the md/tape out of the receiver. or you could just pass it straight from the box to the tv, bypassing the receiver altogether.

Denon avr 1802 died after lightning strike

I hate to be the bearer f bad news but it has been my experience , anything hit by lightening stays hit permanantly ..
You may find a few components on the quick scan of the circuit burnt or damaged , but you can guarantee that other components have been fried also .. It does enough damage to any electrical system when you get a 300v spike on the mains .. so imagine what approx 1/2 a million volts will do to a 12 volt radio ?? dont waste your money call your insuarnce company and claim for it ?. ... My Denon AVR-1802 is permanently stuck in tone defeat. The display actually shows that the tone defeat can be turned off and on, but the tone controls, ie. bass and treble do not alter the sound in any...

Is this only when using external inputs? The manual says the Tone Control will not function in Direct Mode. Try Stereo and various DSP surround modes to see if the Tone Control works.

Denon AVR-1802

Providing we are talking a standard tall pin Ic ie not a flat surface mounted variety you shouldnt have too much trouble with the soldering as long as you have a steady hand .. remember not to leave the iron on the joint too long or the print will lift and keep the tip clean to aid heat flow to the solder .. here are a couple of web adresses that might help you get the components you require and good luck oh by the way dont forget static precautions , touching an Ic alone without gorunding yourself first with a static strap can blow some sensative ic's and also
hope this helps and again good luck . .... Reagards ..Vortash

Digital audio cuts out.

I have same DD 5.1 tiny "bursts" problem with satellite HD channel. It is probably problem with Crystal DSP (German site):
