i do not know how too change the belt

  • kirbylover Jun 25, 2008

read domvacs solution but for some reason still can't get it to go on right. When I get the belt hooked on to the hooked on the other side and put it back on the machine and start to turn it to the BELT ON, green arrows lined up position, the knob with not turn far enough to let the green arrows line up. This is less than a year old and has only been used about 10 times and never been serviced because the place that sold it to me went out of business and there are no local dealers around here. I am in a very rural part of eastern Kentucky. About 65 miles east of Lexington. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lift the light bulb housing up and you will find a latch that will rotate to release the front agitator housing and remove it from the machine. On the bottom of that housing, there are two latches that secure the bottom plate that covers the roller. Remove the plate and the roller will come out. Be sure to notice that the roller has a magnet at one end that lines up with the indicator that shows you when the roller is turning - it's the little green light that glows while you are vacuuming. The roller needs to go back in the same way it came out. O.K. Take your new belt and position it around the middle of the roller and drop the roller back into place and replace the bottom plate. On the front of the housing, there is a big square "knob" and you can rotate that piece. If you look inside the hole on the other side of the agitator housing, you will see that there is an arm that moves with the square knob. The end of this arm will catch the belt and with a little effort, the knob will rotate and lift the belt into position for replacing the housing back on to the machine. once you have the housing back on the machine and secure, you rotate the square knob back around and the belt will sit down on the drive shaft. If you look at the top of the agitator housing just above where the knob is, you will see a red and a green arrow which indicate which way the knob turns to do the "remove" belt or "replace" belt. I hope this helps. Once you do it properly, it actually is quite easy.

Green light no on

HI There,

When the green lights do not come on when vacuuming with a Kirby, this indicates that your belt2_bing.gif has either broken or fallen off. There is a magnet on the beater bar that activates the LED green light when it's spinning.

Here's a helpful video tutorial2_bing.gif that we recorded, that will show you how to replace the belt, as well as perform basic maintenance on your roller brush to prolong the life of your belt as long as possible.
