HI! I have a DELL Latitude D430. Whenever I turn it on, there is this window that comes up which says "Bad Image" and that this particular application (DLL) is not valid in windows. I click OK but nothing...

Make a copy of the instructions below and go through it step by step.

make a note of the .dll file name.
restart your pc, on boot-up press F8 and select start in safe mode.
let PC boot up and click on Start.
Click Run... icon in the start menu.
In the box that pops up type regedit.
Expand the HKEY LOCAL MACHINE then SOFTWARE/Windows/ Current Version.
Left click on Run on the right hand side there will be headings name type and data look for the dll file name and delete the file.
Restart the PC and it should run normally.

STOP: c0000221 {bad image checksum}

You most likely have bad RAM. If you have two chips, pull one out and run the laptop on a single stick. You may need to alternate the sticks just incase the non-working one is the one you left in the laptop.

Have them put the Windows CD in, and run sfc /scannow.

If that doesn't fix it, time to do a wipe and reload.  don't mess around with viruses or spyware any more, just reinstall win..

sure..sounds like it needs a re install of the operating system, as that image is not a photographic one, but a digital image..if this is a new one for you, then a reinstallation is needed. if you did not get the disks, then you will need new software too.
