1471 Pfaff sewing machine will not reengage needle

Hi I took the stop wheel loose on my machine and when I put it back together I cannot reengage the needle. Did I loose a spring or something? Thanks, Susan

No , I don't believe I have a push dial. The picture is the guts and then I have a disk that cover that and a screw with a spring holds it all together. Thanks for the answer though. Susan

Possible solution...when you reassemble, the spring needs to lie flat in the channel under the center black slide. When you put the cover back on,the pin or post that sticks up on the black slide has to be in the curved cam slot on the inside of the cover. If it isn't the slide won't move in and out of the slot to engage the main drive.

On reconsideration, the spring may not lie flat, but may go elsewhere...guess I'd better work on that. Sorry!

The flywhee on my pfaff 1471 seems to have disengaged after unsuccessfully winding a bobbin. The motor goes but the needle does not go. What to do?

Did you turn the knob inside the hand wheel backwards while holding the wheel itself? If that knob is in the correct position, did you hear it snap into place when you rotated the hand wheel towards yourself? Does the needle bar move up and down when you rotate the hand wheel?

I suspect that the needle bar is still disengaged from the motor mechanism. The manual is available from Pfaff on the creative 1471 page: . The direct link to the manual is . See page 13 of the PDF for the picture of the direction and position of the knob that should be checked.

If the machine still doesn't work, it may be that the belt is bad. This connects the shaft of the motor to the mechanism that runs the needle bar. You can find a parts list for the 1471 here: . Scroll down to find the various 1471 diagrams. The belts are probably available at most Pfaff or other sewing machine dealers. This page, , is one source. You want the motor belt.

I hope this helps.

I took batteries out of my Pfaff 1471 without turning it on now I can not get it to do anything but a straight stitch? Did I loose all memory or what?

Oh NO! if you don't turn on the machine first, you will lose what's stored in the memories.
Sorry you will have to put them in again, the same way you did it before. Nuts!

My pfaff 1471 sewing machine keeps breaking the needle

Machine breaks needles
1.make sure you are using the right needle for your type of sewing machine.
. There are cases where the machine will only use ones specified in the owners manual.
2.the presser foot may not be installed properly
3.use the correct needle for the type of fabric you are working with. To fine of needle on heavy fabric or to course a needle on silk or jersey can damage fabric.
4.let the feed dogs guide the fabric & the feed dogs will work with the presser foot .
5.the needle is not all the way in -push all the way up against the stop
6. Check top thread tension

Skipping stitches and sometime the thread breaks.

Sounds like a tension problem maybe. Too tight tension will bend, and break the needle, especially if sewing fast in free machine embroidery, in this mode, the tensions have to be looser anyway. I can't explain why the wheel flagged and stopped, but experiment with tensions first.
