What you need to do is install new sound drivers, now depending on how your system is set up there are a couple possible solutions. Now I will walk you through a couple steps but before I begin I want you to remember something for me and I will explaine in further detail later. BEFORE INSTALLING NEW AUDIO DRIVERS YOU MUST FIRST UN-INSTALL ANY DRIVERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY INSTALLED. That is very important as if this step is skipped the problem will still exist.
1st solution go into your control panal, find the icon for your sound options, double click on that icon. Go into the properties and uninstall all audio drivers. Then make sure your P.C. is connected to the internet and restart your computer. When the P.C. restarts it will look for driver for your audio device, it will also look online to try to find drivers. This should fix your problem, just follow the instructions and install your new driver. However for the sake of giving you a wider set of tools I will list a couple other options.
2nd solution check Windows update, let them scan your system and see if they have an updated audio driver. If they do then un-install any current audio drivers and run the update.
3rd solution if you have an onboard sound card (it is sodderd to the motherboard and canot be removed) You may have to go to the website of the manafactuer of your motherboard and enter the model number of your motherboard, they should have instructions for updating the audio drivers for your sound card. You may have to find the support section of their website .
4th solution If you have a PCI video card (it slides into a PCI slot on your motherboard and can be removed from the computer) You will have to find the manufacture of the sound card, sometimes the easiest way to get this info is to open the side of your computer (remember to power off and unplug your computer before removing the side) and looking at the card its self as most manfacutuers will have their name on the card, take note you may also need a model number off of the card for some of the manufactuers. Find the website for your videocard and try to find drivers for your particular card, keep in mind again these companies make many diffrent models so there may be diffrent drivers for diffrent sound cards and even drivers based on the operating system you are using. Once you find the driver you need make sure you have un-installed any drivers that were on your computer and download and install your new drivers.
Hope this helps
