What you need to do is install new sound driverssound problem - 1.gif, now depending on how your system is set up there are a couple possible solutions. Now I will walk you through a couple steps but before I begin I want you to remember something for me and I will explaine in further detail later. BEFORE INSTALLING NEW AUDIO DRIVERS YOU MUST FIRST UN-INSTALL ANY DRIVERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY INSTALLED. That is very important as if this step is skipped the problem will still exist.
1st solution go into your control panal, find the icon for your sound options, double click on that icon. Go into the properties and uninstall all audio drivers. Then make sure your P.C. is connected to the internet and restart your computer. When the P.C. restarts it will look for driver for your audio device, it will also look online to try to find drivers. This should fix your problem, just follow the instructions and install your new driver. However for the sake of giving you a wider set of tools I will list a couple other options.
2nd solution check Windows update, let them scan your system and see if they have an updated audio driver. If they do then un-install any current audio drivers and run the update.
3rd solution if you have an onboard sound card1.gif (it is sodderd to the motherboard and canot be removed) You may have to go to the website of the manafactuer of your motherboard and enter the model number of your motherboard, they should have instructions for updating the audio drivers for your sound card. You may have to find the support section of their website .
4th solution If you have a PCI video card1.gif (it slides into a PCI slot on your motherboard and can be removed from the computer) You will have to find the manufacture of the sound card, sometimes the easiest way to get this info is to open the side of your computer (remember to power off and unplug your computer before removing the side) and looking at the card its self as most manfacutuers will have their name on the card, take note you may also need a model number off of the card for some of the manufactuers. Find the website for your videocard and try to find drivers for your particular card, keep in mind again these companies make many diffrent models so there may be diffrent drivers for diffrent sound cards1.gif and even drivers based on the operating system you are using. Once you find the driver you need make sure you have un-installed any drivers that were on your computer and download and install your new drivers.
Hope this helps

Hi. Today I bought a 3 foot audio y-cable and an RCA (Phono) Female to RCA (Phoneo) Female cable so that I could hook up these two speakers that I have that belong to a predisian sound system (boom box)...

All you need to do is get a USB based sound adapter 16/32BIT MINIMUM to plug your speakers straight into your laptop with better sound. Many laptops will have limited sound OUTPUT which places large limitations on pushing sound through your nice speakers. You already know the problem is not the speakers or new cables, therefore you know that problem has been isolated to your laptop. You may also check the volume settings in the laptop to ensure your running the highest possible BIT or volume enhacement software. Let me know if this does the trick for you.

I hooked up the speakers to the back of the PC with the matching green plug in. The speakers are on and working but no sound is coming out. I also clicked on the speaker icon and turned the volume all the...

The first thing to do is to determine if it is the speakers or the computer that is having issues. Plug the speakers into an MP3 play, disk player or some other audio device that has a headphone jack and verify they work. If they do, then you need to determine why the computer is not sending sound to the jack. When you right click on the speaker icon, and select "Open volume mixer" there should be multiple sliders to turn up. Make sure the internal speaker/headphone jack volume is up (and mute not selected) as well as the "applications / windows sounds" volume. comment back to me if you require further assistance and if so, include the model computer and operating system in your comments. I cant get sound on my computer

First check you dont have a red line through your speaker on your toolbar. If so click it and "UN-mute it.

Check that the speakers are plugged into the GREEN port on the back of the computer and that the speakers are powered up with the volume at about 1/2 way.

Open volume control.

When the box with all the sliders opens up click on OPTIONS (top left)
Click PROERTIES

Make sure that Volume controls, Wave, SW Synth, CD PLayer, Line IN, and MIC all show on there and that the volume sliders are about half way up.

Make sure noe of the sliders have ticks at the bottom, if so UNTICK them.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing (nothing else unles you know you want that item)

Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music cd in your cd/dvd player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.

You should now have sound out of the speakers.

It might not have came with a speaker. Can you add an external speaker. That might work. Check the device manager to see if you are having any conficts.

I dont know how to get my speakers working

The audio cable on the speakers should go into the green audio port on the back or your PC. Once that is plugged in, if you still don't have sound go into your sounds and audio devices in the control panel and make sure the volume is not off or muted.

dear,
can u see a speaker or volume icon at the tray, where the clock exists.
if yes, then click on it and check the pin that goes to cpu for speakers.

if you cant see the icon then check the installation of sound card from:
right click to "my computer" go to properties--->hardware---->device manager---->then check in sound, game controller, if u have the availibility of sound card there,

if u have an extra sound card installed on PCI slot in the motherboard then fix the card properly or reinstall it properly..

regards,
hope it will help so dont forget to rate it .
dont hesitate to ask further
