Re: 402a

You take out the screws on the bottom of the nozzle to see if you need a belt (part # 60957) or if the brush roll (part # 60959)is bad.

Brushes won't turn

The brushes are powered by air suction from the motor. At the heart of this complicated system are roller bearings. When one fails the system fails. This is not one of the parts that Hoover thinks is needed on it's parts site so I've haven't found a way to repair this.

Belt seems to have broken where do I get new belt for my eureka

If this is the same model as the one you have dont forget the 402A has a brush roll on/off function located on the main power switch so that it can be used with the beater bar on or off. If you remove the sole plate you'll find a toothed drive belt. These don't normally break and can be difficult to find a replacement. Check EBAY or Electrolux/Boss for replacements. It may just have slipped off its mechanism.

The Altima line has 2 screws on the hood (part where the knob is that says high carpet and low carpet) that you remove with a philips head screwdriver then you just lift the hood of the vacuum

Download parts and operators manual

This owner's manual is available on the Eureka website. Type in your model # down in the right corner, search & buy accessories.Click go, then choose either the 402A or 402A-1. It is the same owner manual for either one.

No sucking

Could be that the dust cup filter is clogged, part #60958, or the inlet down by the brush roll is clogged.
