Memorex MLT3221 32 in. LCD TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 22, 2009

My T.V.'s picture suddenly disappeared with different colored lines vertically on the screen. We had sound but no picture. We called Memorex and they told us to reset it. We hold the power button for 5 seconds and then unplug holding the power button for 1 minute. Plug it back in and we should be all set. We did this 1 couple of times but no luck. As a matter of fact part of the screen now has a black space. What parts will be needed to fix this?

If the TV has been moved around or traveled , it may be a loose component or a solder joint / wire came loose. If you are going to junk it , then have someone you know and trust with ability open the unit and closely scan the board connections . Some soldering work is poor enough to come apart with use. Good Luck.

Your LCD panel went out, very expensive, mor than the TV is worth. But you can try replacing the LCD controller board first.

My Vizio TV has a bar of colored lines running veritcally over the picture. Should I replace the T-Con board?

What causes vertical colored lines on a TV screen? When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. If you knock on the back of the TV, the vertical colored lines MAY disappear temporarily. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.

I have a horizontal line through the tv with no picture

By now you've probably replace this with a Flat Screen LCD, LED or Plasma unit. But the answer to your original problem is a loss of vertical drive. Possibly just a bad solder joint @ the vertical IC.

Different color vertical lines on screen Sony KDF-E55A20

Go to the last page of troubleshooting in the manual and perform the system reset procedure. Basically hold the Wega "arrow up" as you manually switch the TV off. It will automatically switch back on and reset. I had only vertical colored lines on the screen, with audio but no response to any remote control functions. The rest worked perfectly.

Horizontal color line across the screen

Most likely a bad Vertical IC or bad connections on the vertical IC. don't continue trying it on. If you have a bad connection it could do more damage. You also could damage the CRT ( picture tube ). If you remove the cover and look at the bottom side of the PC bord with a good magnifiing glass you may see what looks like rings around the leads comming from the Vertical IC. The Vertical IC is mounted on a heat sink usually towards the front of the set looking from back. If you do see the rings around the leads try reheating with a solder iron. If this dosen't fix you most likely need a new IC.

Memorex tv

There is a capacitor going bad and is not charging all the wayor it takes a while to charge,is an electrolitic cap so it has polarity and the replacement needs to be conected the same way,the circuit board has the marking were the negative and the positive are and the cap is marked too,he should be a 1.5 microfarad at about 160 volts and sometimes is close to the vertical Ic,if you are familiar with tv service this information should help but if you are not too familiar seek the help of a servicer,it should not be too expensive, the vertical IC might need to be resoldered.Let Us know if you need more help.
