Canon DC50 won't finalize

My camcorder is fairly new, but I have never been able to finalize it. I know I'm using the right discs, yet, when I go to the menu, the "finalize" text is always in black and never white for me to use it. I've browsed the manual about a thousand times, and I don't know what to do.

Have you tried connecting the camera to power supply before you try to finalize?

Are you using the AC adapter when trying to finalize? You cannot finalize using battery power only.

Link to your manual:

Instructions for finalizing begin on page 61.

Hope this helps.

My battery doesn't charge anymore Canon DC50

It sounds like your battery is shot and needs to be replaced. Before you spend any money on it though, I recommend that you take your camcorder and that battery to a camera shop and have them test the battery and the camera's recharging system.

Finalizing a disc (when plugged in) on a Canon DC210

I think it is a problem with the camera.
We had one, couldn't finalize, exchanged that, and still the same problem.
Canon NO help whatsoever.
Even the mini disc companies that we purchased, NO help either.
We are returning this camera and going with a hard drive.
We were able to plug the camera to a DVD recorder and copy onto a full size disc.

Finalizing disc

You're doing the right thing and you also have the manual. You are also able to see 'finalise' in the menu, so the camcorder is ready to perform the finalise function.

There are no 'hidden' steps. With your wall adapter plugged in and switched on you should be able to finalise.

Make sure you do not move the camcorder or switch off the wall adapter during finalisation - this could cause problems.
