You don't "turn on" 1080i, the TV receives a signal that is in that format and displays it. If the antenna or whatever you have is not giving a High Def input to TV, it can't display HD picture.

The power light is just blinking red on my panasonic 1080i hdtv. cant even switch it off using the power button. picture and sound come on for about a second when the tv is switched on after power cord...

The power light keeps flashing and the tv won't turn on. If you unplug for a minute and hit the power button it sound like it is coming on then it shuts off and the red power light flashes slowly. The TV is a Panisonic 1080i HDTV, about 6-7 years old.

Is it a 1080 for hdtv

1080i or 1080p are both HD. the i and the p stand for the way the images are displayed. 1080i is interlaced, and 1080p is progressive scan. 1080p is the best hands down for fast moving sports and things like that, but for just watching your basic night time lineup, 1080i is fine.
