BELKING SWITCH2 Hi I have a belkin switch 2. I have connected it to both PC'S but nothing happens. The monitor doesnt work. Also none of the lights on the Switch2 come on at all. 1 PC has DVI ports on back, 1 PC has VGA ports on back. So i plugged VGA cable from monitor into switch 2 and then added a VGI-DVI connector to switch2 cable to plug into PC No 1 but nothing happens. My monitor has VGA and DVI connectors but im thinking the VGA must not work? DVI works fine when connected to one PC I am so confused and its really windin me up as i just want to sort it? can anyone help?

I've had one of these switches for a few years now. Just recently hooked it up again, only this time using a MS cordless mouse and keyboard. A bit different than the old wired mouse and keyboard I was using a few years ago, and we ran into this issue this time.

The switch requires the ScrollLock and the #2 to be keyed to switch. Twice on the ScrLk, then the 2 (on the number pad). After trying it with the wired keyboard and it worked, I looked at the wireless keyboard and noticed the ScrLk key was a function key. Hit the F Lock key and tried it again, and it worked this time.

I also found that with the power settings in the "save energy" mode, it had a tendancy not to switch when the other PC was asleep. Try hitting the reboot button to wake it up, and that might help.

Key things: Scroll lock key activated by hitting the Function Lock key. Wake up both systems so you know they're paying attention.

Hope this helps.

I think you must also connect the USB connectors.

I had to reset my router because I forgot my security key. Now the wireless isn't working. The light is off and I can't connect to it with my laptops. What happened and how can I fix it?

It is possible that since your reset your router that the settings is more likely to be reset as well then you will have to connect using an ethernet cable direcly from the lptop to your router to turn on the wireless capability of your Belkin router.

You will need to get your router's Default gateway to get in the router and turne the wireless capability on it. Most probobly the IP address of your Belking would be type this in IE on the address bar then press enter this should lead you into the router "Belkin" make sure that your are connected using ethernet from the laptop to your Belking router to be able to do this.

I have two white wire bond together, then two red wires and two black wires how do I wire this switch?

You posted under 3-way switch.
Example of 3-way switch is a hallway with switch at each end of hallway.
If you have a different switch, then instructions below do not apply, so add a comment.

1) Your old switch has 3 screws: 1 dark screw and 2 brass screws.
New switch has same color screws.
If you can remember where wires went on old switch, then re-connect on new switch using color-coded screws.
This is why I learned to make notes or take a photo before disconnecting electrical device.

2) If you are uncertain where wires went on old switch, then we can test.
The testing takes more words than it does work, and it will resolve problem.
You are replacing one 3-way switch, but other 3-way switch is still in the wall and is wired correctly.
We will call the other switch: switch2
Move switch2 to down position.
Separate wires at new switch for testing.
Use ordinary two wire tester.
Tape tester leads to wood to keep hands away from power
Turn power ON.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Hot wire. Mark this wire.

Now move switch2 to up position and repeat test.
Tester lights up on Hot wire so mark this wire.
>If same wire is Hot in each test, then this wire connects to dark screw. If this wire was also connected with another wire on old switch, then connect that other wire to brass screw also.
>If two different wires tested Hot, then these are the travelers, and each traveler connects to a brass screw. One traveler on one brass screw and other traveler on other brass screw, in any order.

Leave switch2 in up position. One wire is Hot and has power.
Test this wire to all other wires in box, except bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on Neutral wire(s). This wire(s) is not used in the 3-way circuit, so put a wire nut over Neutral.

No power to moniter

This kind of problem needs an isolation. Please try the steps below:

1. Check the physical connection and make sure that the power cable is properly seated to the monitor.
2. Connect the monitor into different power outlet.
3. Try using different power cable.

Otherwise, you need to bring your monitor to the repair shop if none of the steps help.

Have a great day!

Components not recognised automatically with Belkin Switch2

This is not quite a solution, but a workaround. Take a USB cable extender and intercept the 5V supply wire in it (normally red) with a push to break switch. When you have powered up the PC, push the switch and the KVM will then work (same as your unplugging but much easier to do ). Switch bought on Ebay for 0.99GBP. Belkin tried to insist that I had my laptop plugged in and working if I wanted to use my desktop.

Belkin products are notorious for breaking down at a high rate. If you wanted to rule out your computer as the culprit, you could install the belking adapter on your laptop (disable the built-in one) and see if it still works. I would also suggest going here:

and typing in your product model # and downloading the latest firmware/software for it. As always, restart your computer.
