Problems with the "cover-switch"???

All of a sudden, my digital camera wen sort of like MAD. I swapped the batteries today and, without sliding the black front cover to turn it on, it went on straightaway.

Then it would not switch off - I have to remove the batteries. After that, I started experiencing problems, because it won't turn on easily. It's been fine and it started happening out of the blue. What could it be?

I think that you have been rough with your camera and you should get a case if you dont have one and if its still not working then go to a repair shop

My camera will not turn on when I slide the lens cover switch and will not charge when plugged in.

When the battery is empty, you can't switch on the camera. Why does it not charge?
Could be the switch behind the lens cover does not work correct or not at all. Could be the power cord is not ok. Or the socket where the cord goes into the camera.
Can you try to charge the camera on an external charger and when it is charged, try switching on again.

When I turn my camera on, it says 'Battery Cover Open' even though the cover is securely closed and the battery is fully charged. Any suggestions?

The switch that detects if battery cover is closed is broken. You can open the battery cover and look under it, you should see a small hole with a small black switch in it. If you have experience in repairs and / or soldering, you can fix it yourself - just shorten the switch. If you can't do it yourself, just give it to any local camera or mobile phone repair shop, they should be able to do it without problems.

Hope this helps!

Battery door.

Hi, waiting for the replacement part, I had a look at the broken one . I think you may be able to replace just the plastic part without removing the pin. I'll look closer when I get the part.

Battery contacts can be improved with metal foils to pack out the chamber. Make sure all contacts are clean- use a pencil eraser for bottom the the chamber. Pack out top of batteries under the cover with foil- do not cross connect . When closed press the cover with your fingers.

Camera doesn't recognize lens cover...

I rednecked the crap out of mine. I pulled off the slide cover and placed a small piece of paper clip in the area of the copper to make a permanent contact. Then duct taped it secure and then cover the whole slide mechanism. I would not recommend this method but it worked.

Lens Cover Closed

the switch inside that activates the camera is probably loose, or worse, broken.
