Toner I have a Brother 1440 printer with a new toner cartridge. prints come out real streaky (missing horizontal segments) and the alarm light is flashing. Like I said, NEW toner cartridge, i'm not buying another one.

Likely thing is that you have a faulty toner cartridge return it to the store and ask for a replacement in exchange as yours is faulty. IF this does not cure the fault then maybe the drum unit causing the fault and this may need replacing.

Data and alarm lights stay on,won't print

The Toner cartridge is empty, You can possibly take out the toner and tilt it fron side to side and maybe get a few more prints, but most likely you will need to replace the toner.

Printer Won't Print

The alarm light and data light are on and the printer does not print .I did not see a paper jam. What do you think the problem is? Thank you

If these two light are on this means that the Toner is empty, you will need to replace the toner cartridge.

Low print quality

It depends upon the number of prints you have done since Feb and the toner cartridge capacity. Some toner cartridges have 2500 page capacity others have 5000 pages or more.
If you think you have not exceeded or reached the cartridge capacity, take it out of the printer and give it a shake in a horizontal position to distribute the toner evenly across the drum and place it back in the printer. This also works when the toner is nearly empty.

Printer not working

On this printer, the alarm and data lights mean that the toner cartridge is empty. When you replace the toner, be sure to slide the corona wire cleaner across and back. This is the small light blue plastic piece on top of the drum cartridge. You'll see a small arrow in the plastic. Just slide it back and forth once or twice each time you replace the toner cartridge.

Printer won't print

According to the operation manual: If alarm light and data light blink every 5 seconds- TONER LOW (purchase more toner and have it ready when the 'toner empty' is indicated). If alarm light and data light stay lit- TONER EMPTY (replace toner cartrige with new one).
