Blurred/double vision Samsung HDTV 1080i projection

The screen has blurred/double vision and it looks like it is the color red that is off. Also at the top and bottom on the screen there is about a 2 inch wide half moon that is black. It is like the screen will not adjust properly and neither will the colors. I could care less about the HDTV stuff I just want the picture to look right

I have a Samsung PCL545R 54" with similar problems. The screen displays all three colors slightly offset (shifted) from each other, which gives the a 'blurry' picture. Also has what appears to be a convergence problems, with half-moons on both the top and bottom of the screen. The colors also show up while watching older b&w tv shows. I have tried the various settings to try to adjust the color and picture with no luck. This condition basically happened overnight - was working fine and than two days ago, the colors and convergence issues started.

Is the fix for this the same as mentioned in the response - the two IC's and possible resistors?

    Thanks

Your convergence ICs are bad and maybe the two resistors right next to them. This is an easy and inexpensive repair if you can solder. A repair shop will run about 400.00 The parts are readily available for about 10.00 each you will need two ICs STKXXX-XXX
Look inside your set for a large aluminum heat sink that's where hey are located they will have an STK number like above stamped on them. Those are the part numbers. Let me know what type of TV and model number you have and I can help you locate the proper parts.

Red color outline and double vision

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Double vision on my samsung HDTV 1080i

If one or more of the colors, red, green or blue have separated from each other and you can`t correct the problem using the convergence procedure as described in the users manual, that would indicate you have a convergence problem. Bad solder connections on the convergence output chips are common. If the set had a rough ride down the stairs while moving, that may have facilitated in exposing a preexisting condition. However, the most likely cause is the natural failure of one of the convergence output chips and or related components and not the move. The fix is to have a qualified technician address the problem. This is not a do it yourself job.

You have a convergence problem. Components are shorted out and must be replaced. Unless you're a technician, there's really nothing you can do at this point.
