I tried turning on my camera and it sits for a second on the start up screen and then beeps at me and says "Lens error - restart camera." I haven't dropped the camera. I recently plugged it into a computer and correctly disconnected it from the computer.
Any suggestions?

- Thank you for the suggestion. I tried the battery option, but it didn't work. I will keep trying, but I think that it is a software problem. There were some other people online that had same problem and had to contact the vendor direct. I think that the Canon Powershot SD600 has a software defect... I never had this problem with Nikon, but at the same time I had 3 Nikon cameras in 5 years.
They really don't make digital cameras like the old SLR's
-   I have the same problem, ans it happened on my vacation in the Bahamas. Anyonw know how to restart this camera?? I tried taking out the battery, the pic card, and pressing through the menus. Can't figure it out.-   puckbunnyrn
Manually rotating sensor rotor inside camera and cleaning gear fixed the Canon "lens error" for me. I placed instructions with photo's here: http://www.avh.dds.nl/Fix-Canon-SD600-Lens-Error/
Remove battery for a minute or two then reinsert and try If the problem persists recharge the battery fully Then try if it still persists then there is a possible fault and you should return it to the vendor if under warrantyot contact Canon if out of warranty Be warned if out of warranty your likely looking buying a new camera
