Flash won't pop up even though lightning symbol is showing

Depends on what phone you have. For my Samsung, I click the lightning bolt. I have 3 option lightning bolt with an A; without A; and a no symbol through the lightning bolt. This is the one you want showing if you do not want a flash.

Lightning Strike Symbol means that the battery is charging.
If it is shown even when it is not charging then your charging circuit needs to repaired. Just replace the charging IC not a very high cost. Might cost around 5-10USD.

First, check to make sure you're not in the macro mode. There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the SD card slot. Slide the switch away from the flower toward the mountain to take it out of macro mode. The flash won't fire in macro mode.

Then, if the flash still doesn't fire, take a look at the flash mode. Press the up-arrow button to bring up the flash menu. If it's currently set in the lightning-bolt-in-a-circle-with-a-slash-through-it symbol, you've got the flash turned off. Set it to the lightning-bolt-and-"A" for automatic flash or the lightning-bolt for forced flash.

If the flash still doesn't fire, then it's broken.

Usually the pop up flash will extend when the program calls for it or the user has manually turned it on, and it will fire without an issue. Page 70 of the manual goes into detail how it is set up and uses graphics which won't work very well here. Unless you have the "circle with a line though it" over the lightning bolt "flash" symbol, the flash should fire when needed.

It is possible that the flash lamp has failed, and may need to be replaced. Contact Nikon Service & Support or other reputable camera shop to help you with that.

This lightning strike depending on where you are seeing it is either showing you the button to push for the internal flash to pop up or it's telling you that flash is required for the camera setting you have chosen. If the lightning strike is an icon on the camera body it will be beside a button that's for an internal flash. If you see this in the viewfinder or screen then the camera is letting you know that the scene is going to require flash.

In the PSAM modes the flash won't pop up on its own. In the AUTO and vari-program modes, you can set the flash mode by turning the command dial while pressing the flash sync mode button (marked with a lightning bolt symbol). Select Flash Cancel (lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it).

There is a dedicated button (with the symbol of a lightning) for the flash. To turn off flash, press the button (maybe repeatedly) till the flash indicator on screen shows 'lightning with a circle around it'. To set it back, press the same button till the display shows Lightning and A.

Search on the Internet, you will definitely find a soft copy of the User Manual of your camera.

Check your flash setting (the button with a jagged lightning bolt) to make sure that you have the camera set for auto flash. Push the flash setting button until you see a bold A next to the lightning bolt. Sometimes the user inadvertently covers or even just touches the flash unit while powering on the camera, preventing the unit from popping up. Many Kodak cameras have a manual button (marked with the lightning bolt and the word OPEN) to pop the unit up so that it will work for you. Hope this helps.

Try resetting the iPod buy holding the home button and the shut off button on top at the same time, hold till unit shows it reset

If you have a lightning symbol followed by “A” in the upper left corner of display, try to change it to forced flash (only lightning symbol) or reduce iso settings because probably the camera “thinks” there’s sufficient light for the photo.
