Try one of these solution:
1.Try to get the latest update for your XP OS. (i. e latest service pack and update)
2.Try to download Driver for the audio to function properly (if it is external)
3. If you have a built-in sound controller Try to install your motherboard driver to update all its chipsets
4. Check your hardware stability by right clicking the my computer on the desktop, select properties, select hardware tab, select device manager button, under the sound, expand to see all the listings, check to whether audio devices are present.
5.Try to check in the control panel, select sound speech and audio devices, select sound and audio devices, click sounds tab, under the program events select one of those programs and click the play button if sound can be heard.

External HD connection problem

Mmm, go into Device manager and see if any hardware has yellow symbol, especially USB root or plug n play devices.

If any have the yellow symbols then delete them and click on "scan for hardware changes" hopefully it will re-install non corrupt drivers.

External mice are usually plug and play. Plug it in restart your comp. this first time and on bottom right of the task bar (by your clock) you should see "new device detected"/"installing new hardware for your device"/ device is ready to use.
I'm assuming by "external mouse" you mean a usb not wireless right?

I don't know how to enable the wireless on a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1196

If you're running XP
Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network Connections, Right Click on your Wireless and Select 'Enable".
If it's a physical switch on the laptop then you need to turn it on. Check the sides of the laptop.

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

A driver was loaded but Windows cannot find the device. This error occurs when Windows does not detect a non-Plug and Play device.

If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, install the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. If the hardware was not removed, obtain a new or updated driver for the device.

If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

Computer can not see external drive

Depends on the os and connection method of external. If using XP or Vista, use the control panel - system - hardware - device and check for it there. If there is a yellow or red mark next to it, it didn't install properly. leaving it connected, uninstall it on the device screen. Reboot. When the system detects it, load only the driver for the os U R using.
