WARNING! I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you are technically savvy, as one wrong move could totally mess up all of your phones!!!

I searched and downloaded the Programming Manual from here: http://www.nec.co.th/html/download/Manual/Programming.pdf.

This manual will not only tell you how to fix your issue, but how to pretty much fix/change all programming for the NEC Electra Elite DTU-16D-2 phones.

I have also searched and downloaded the Feature Manual from here: http://www.nec.co.th/html/download/Manual/Features%20&%20Specifications.pdf

Happy Programming! =)

I forgot,,,,this must be done at the attendant's extension. Typically ext 10 or 100 or something like that. It's usually the first two extension ports on the system.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Here's a link to this great service

Good luck!

NEC DTU-16d-2 background music

you would need to enter system programming mode and change MB 1-8-31 to external. The internal music is pretty bad. This works on elite and ipk platforms. It depends on your system type. Look at the phone system and see what letters it has on it.

Display contrast - too dark

You should be able to adjust LCD contrast when phone is idle, just use the up/down arrow button to adjust it (don't go off-hook). If you have background music set, the above procedure will adjust the music volume instead. You can turn Background music on and off by pressing <Feature>,2,6 when your phone is idle. Alternatively, you may press <Speaker> 6,0,2 and then use the UP/Down arrow key to adjust LCD contrast.
