This is a good indication that the picture tube is starting to fail. If you feel comfortable with the back cover off, try the following:

1) Remove the back cover (set the unit on the floor)
2) Locate the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out the top)
3) There will be one or two controls on it. One should be labeled screen and the other focus.
4) Turn the screen control slightly clockwise.

If the picture remains on, then the tube is starting to fail and the "fix" will buy you enough time to locate a replacement.

Update this with the results,

Thanks,
Dan

Hard to get started when powering up to watch.

definitely, something wrong with it. TV shouldn't take more then a few seconds to start, I suggest, while it still under warranty, give Sharp a call to get it fixed.

Tv comes on just the sound about three seconds later tv shuts off

I have the same issue with mine and have a solution that sometimes works. I had a repair guy come to check it out and he powered off the TV so that the red light was no longer blinking, then he unplugged the TV for about 30 seconds or so and then plugged it back in. He then turned on the TV and it worked. He said it would cost about $400 to fix the issue (some circuit or something). I have since expeerienced the on/off problem (due to power outage) and now I cannot get the TV to work. But at least give this solution a try and please post to let me know if it worked or not. Good luck!

Sony kv-32v42

Your two options are to take it to a service shop, or the more likely and probably more cost effective option is to purchase a new Television. The newer model will have a far superior picture quality, cost less per inch of viewable area, and likely have more features than your prior T.V. as well.

good luck
