AUDIO DRIVER FOR WIN XP PROF. SP2

I have a Syntax p4svm266a series, V1.0-my motherboard with a via ac'97 audio controller. I put a new install of widows xp pro sp2 on my computer. I have no sound. It says under sounds that there is no audio device. When you try to play anything it gives a error 10. I dont know what this means. I tried to check them in device manager and hardware wizard. It says drivers are installed and working. But, under device status it says this device cannot start (error 10). I thought maybe the controller was bad so I took a sound card from another computer and installed it. I get the same exact readings on it. I am lost and quite ignorant to all of this. Got any suggestions?

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question or exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to install drivers if you dont have a motherboard disc you will have to download the drivers http://download.cnet.com/%7Bvalue=http://www.download.com/jetway-motherboard-driver/3000-2098_4-163033.html http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-Vista-Windows-7/3000-2120_4-10962344.html

you will need to open up your network connections click start control panel network connections this may vary depending on your operating system look for local area connection if you see a red x or a yellow exclamation or question mark you will need to update or install the driver or it could be firewalled
If you are trying to connect through a modem/router the driver should have come with a disc provided by your ISP internet service provider or your motherboard disc
you might have to connect the usb lead to your modem to get a connection then
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to network adapters should see a yellow question mark? right click install drivers if you cant find the driver hopefully one of these will help you

Hello!

You can find the latest VIA AC 97' Audio driver here:
Win XP:

Win Vista:

If you can tell me what motherboard and windows version you need the drivers for I might be able to be more precise.

Hope this helps!

H D Audio Driver fails to install

Have you checked to see if the driver is already installed, and the volume is just turned down? (Start> programs > accessories > entertainment > volume control) If so, try going into Device Manager (right click My Computer > properties > hardware > device manager) See if the sound card is showing up there as a yellow question mark or other error icon, it will stand right out. If it's there, right click, and uninstall it. Now (still in device manager) press the button that looks like a computer screen with a magnifying glass on it, that will scan for hardware changes and pick up the sound card, which windows includes the driver for automatically. If this still doesn't work, try downloading from realtek here, and installing that. Hope this helps.
