I have a McCulloch backpack leaf blower. WHen it is running and I pull the trigger, runs for 2-3 seconds then drops to idle power. If I take my finger off the trigger and then pull it again, I get full power for a few seconds and then it drops to idle speed, again. Any hints on how to fix the problem?

Thats a lean condition. Check fuel lines and fuel filter. If the fuel ilnes are discolored or stiff or really super mushy, If the fuel filter has become detatched from the fuel line then the fuel lines need to be replaced.
If the carb can be adjusted you can try to adjust but its likely that the carb should be rebuilt with new diaghrams and gaskets.
Adjust by turning the low speed screw out ( counterclockwise) 1/2 a turn. The low speed screw is always the one closest to the motor and usually marked on the carb body with an 'L'. When you richen a motor up the idle will drop so you will probably have to turn the idle screw in 1/2 a turn. 1 and 1/2 turns out from light bottom is standard starting point ( 2 turns for poulan products). If you get more than 3 and 1/2 turns out on the low speed screw or if turning the screw has little or no effect then the carb should be rebuilt.
Most of the small outdoor power equipment that I have used takes the following to start:
1. Prime 6-8 times, or whatever the manual calls for.
2. Choke the carb to full choke.
3. Pull starter rope. It may sputter and die.
4. After it sputters and dies, put the choke on 1/2. Pull a time or 2 more and should start. Run like that 10 seconds or so, then take choke all the way off.
I have let my leaf blower run and warm up before throttling up and still it bogs down and shuts down. There is no air cleaner to clean should I just blow out the carb. and fuel lines? It runs and idles just no high speed to blow.
the l is for idle and the h is for top end but thats not ur problem it sounds like ur carb is clogged there is a screen inside of the carb the fuel gets crystalized and blocks off some and sometimes all of the fuel ill bet thats the problembut u can try the adjustments first give the unit full throttle and turn the h adjustment screw in and or out till it sounds great and at full power if that dont work then do the screen in the carb
Mcculloch MB3202 anti-vibration back pack leaf blower, runs better at the middle setting of the choke than it does if it's wide open the way it should be. Can't get it to blow leaves well. Owners manual lost. ANY ADVICE???????? New gas, spark plug starts on the first pull but just doesn't give out like it should.
