Re: Gamecube won't read the disk.

Try this
1. use a clean q-tip
2. put windex on one end
3. gently rub the wet end of the q-tip in a circular motion on the laser lens.
then use the other end and do the same as the wet end
4. pop in a game cube disc and it should work.

if it does not work check the disc and see if it is scratched.
if it is use warm water and mild soap, rub in and rinse. after use a tissue or some thing soft and wipe from inside strate out.

Put disk in and the Gamecube keeps saying there is not

Your Gamecube reader lens may be dirty. Take some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and rub it lightly and carefully on your Gamecube lens. If this does not work, it could be your Gamecube discs. Sometimes Gamecube discs can get worn out, and no longer work. Another possibility is the reading lens is completely broken. You will have to buy a Nintendo Game Bit tool to open your Gamecube, and replace the lens with a new lens that you will have to buy. I hope this helped.

My gamecube does not spin the discs that i put into it and does not read them. Is there something i can do to fix this without having to buy a new one?

One time I ccidently touched the lens in my 10 year old gamecube so now the lens and the laser dont read the discs anymore because it is knocked out of anglement so you could buy a new gamecube now or buy a wii because wii's can still play gamecube disc's too.

I bought a gamecube online and it wont spin the disk

Sounds like you need the Gamecube sensor switch replaced. That is a small door device for detecting when the Gamecube DVD door or lid is closed allowing disc initiation to begin. When your Gamecube doesn't detect disk at all and simply continues the message: "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC," this is the problem. You can test this by inserting a game disc, opening the Gamecube door, and then closing it. If the message "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC" remains unchanged, and there is no spinning of the disk, then your GameCube lid closed door sensor is probably broken and should be replaced. You can search Google for Part GCPT032, or for GameCube Lid Closed Door Sensor.

An easy fix if you know how to open the Cube. It's cable simply plugs in, and it is held by one tiny screw.

if your gamecube does not read games but the disk spins then it means that your laser assembly is shot if it does not spin then the chances are its your motor hub thats shot.

if it works with some games and not others then chances are the laser assembly needs to be adjusted.

hope this helps.

My gamecube doesnt read any disks but the disks work in other gamecubes

Most likely the disks are dirty or scratched. Could you please check that the disks are not scratched or dirty?

Games initial load before Play Starts receive error 'cannot read disk see instruction manual'

If this happens for only some games, you should try cleaning the discs with a disc cleaner. Otherwise, you could try asking around at stores like circuit city, radioshack, best buy, etc. for what you could use to clean the lens, the part that reads the disc in your gamecube. If that doesn't work, chances are that the lens is damaged and your only hope is to send it in for repairs or get a new gamecube (or Wii).
