Reload your installation software. If you don't have it, use the Internet to download the latest drivers and patches from HP.com. Save them to your PC and make your own CD or, purchase a drivers disk direct from HP.

Hpupdate.msi file missing error message

It is an issue with a printer that was once installed or has been hooked to the PC before.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-77759-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&product=3795406&sw_lang

Download the file and run the program. It will force windows to remove all traces of the Officejet software & drivers. If you still use your officejet you will have to reinstall the drivers.

''Error 1706''

My colleague says that when Error 1706 occurs during an attempt to install an MSI file from removable media, the first thing you should try to do is check the Media Package Pathway and determine if the pathway does in fact track to the right folder. If it does not, scan the removable media and locate the file where the MSI file is housed. In some cases, you may find that the MSI file is found in a folder that is named App1. Once you have determined where to find the right file, it is a matter of resetting the Media Package Pathway so that the system will find and activate the MSI file. This will require you to make some changes to the command line or possibly make a permanent change in the registry.
It is important to note that making changes in the command line and especially in the registry are functions that someone who is familiar with writing code and general information system functions should perform.
If you are not knowledgeable about these sorts of functions, there is every possibility that the modification will not result in resolving the issue regarding the MSI file. Further, the change may create additional problems with the media package.

Can't download iTunes, IE 8, HP Printer...Fatal Error MSI Scan is the usual statement, although I've gotten numbered failures too. But Fatal Error is the main one.

Hey

The SCAN.MSI that comes up about your HP printer, that is located on the CD in a special folder.

It would be best for you to completely uninstall all HP programs from the computer related to the printer.
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
unplug the printer first
use the free(ware) version. Download the program, start it, go to the uninstall programs part, find the HP related items and uninstall, Use medium setting and delete all files and items it finds, just click on select all and then delete.

When that is done restart the computer, then use the CD or I'll direct you to the full feature download to reinstall it.

I've delt with this scan.msi issue quite a few times here and I know how to solve it. If this doesn't work for whatever reason you would have to go to the cd (right click, open) and find the scan.msi file, when the error comes up asking for the scan file, direct it there (Exactly to the file in the cd, it may be hidden inside a few folders) and it should solve that one.

When ever i scan my document it is showing an error of scan.msi file is missing

Scan.msi is a standard file for almost all HP scanners and All-In-One machines, this is a common problem. You will need to completely uninstall your scanner then reinstall it, this should replace the missing file.

Hi

To resolve this issue I request you to please go through below weblink...I resolved this issue with my setup and hope will help you as well.

You may receive a the message("... ") given in the weblink with a different msi file name(eg: scan.msi or camara.msi etc..), we need to note this file name and perform the below steps. In the below web link an example is been shown as 'Camera.msi' you may not receive the same message, note the file name in the error message you received and replace it with camara.msi and perform the rest troubleshooting from the below web link.
