SOURCE: K image drum

The K drum sensor is probably covered with toner residue.
First clean out excess toner spill and see if you can clean the sensor , which should be an opening on the right side wall directly across the K drum. Use a cottonswab with alcohol.
If the sensor is bad, you should have a tech look at it, The sensor board is held in with14 springs!

Please remember to rate Techs who assist you for free :)

SOURCE: Error keeps popping code 563K drum life. Replaced

I have used over 25 of these printers and retired 2 of them for this reason. Try compressed air and clean very well. If it does not work order an new rebuilt one from comp usa for less than the cost of a 1 5000 count ink refill and keep all of your current insides as replacement parts.

I still receive the error message "Replace Drum", "Drum End Soon", "Drum Near End", or "Drum Stop" after I replace the drum unit with a new one. The following error messages will continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit with a new one.
  • Replace Drum
  • Drum End Soon
  • Drum Near End
  • Drum Stop
To clear these error messages, you need to reset the drum counter as instructed below.

If you want to clear an error message related to the toner replacement, click here to see how to clear an error message after you replaced the toner cartridge.
"What is the difference between the toner cartridge and the drum unit?"

Please reset the drum counter only when you replace the drum unit. If you reset the drum counter during the life of the drum unit currently being used, the remaining drum life will not be displayed accurately.

  2. Open the front cover.
  3. Press Clear or Clear/Back on the control panel.?
NOTE: The layout of a control panel differs depending on the model, but the Clear or Clear/Back button is located on the right side of the LCD screen as shown in illustration.

    • If your Brother machine has a numeric keypad:
Press 1 to reset the drum counter.

After Warming up....The error message is E000020-0460..what is the problem

Hello Rama,
I will answer your question however you will determine the solution. This error code means that when your device went through it's "self diagnostics"in an effort to provide you with the optimum image quality a failure occurred. The target for image quality for BLACK could not be reached. The black drum has reached and went beyond it's ability function.Replace the black drum. The part number is 0258B001AA.It is easy to replace and there are many sources on the web.The cost is around 175 $US. . The estimated life of the black drum is 78K.Keep in mind that virtually every image you generate has a black component. The E000020 means one of your 4 drums have failed. The 0460 says 2 things. The 04 means black drum. The 60 that follows means which component of the black drum(the developer)has failed.I am glad to help you and save you a service call. Please let FIXYA know I helped you, and have a blessed life. SPINAL

On my bizhub 250 copier, there is a message stating " Please change PC Drum" My question is, How do I change PC Drum?

This is a service technician performed function. The PC Drum unit is changed by removing the whole imaging unit and then removing the drum section and changing it out. At the same time the developer needs to be cleaned from the developing unit and replaced with fresh developer. The drum counter is then reset using the service mode and then the new developer must be calibrated using the F8 mode. So in this machine's case, this is just not a pull out the old unit and plug in a new one.
If you find the "right" service guy, he can come in and reset the drum counter and do the f8 without changing either the drum or the developer. This can sometimes get twice the life out of the unit. Copy quality can degrade a bit towards the end of the second cycle.
If you just reset it your looking at around $100. If you do everything that is called for then the cost is more like $350.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Oki C5450 error message

The figure after the K drum Life tells you how much life there is left on the BLACK (K) drum. C indicates Cyan, M indicates Magenta and Y indicates Yellow.

Go to the USAGE MENU and look at the K DRUM LIFE setting. This will be a 2 digit percentage value. As you have just seen the message appear this will mean that the drum life remaining is ....whatever the 2 digit value displays.

The life expectancy of a drum is approximately 15,000 pages.
