Monitor has shadows from left to right

When i turn on the system, the monitor works perfectly...after a period of time (anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours) the monitor starts to blur with shadows from left to right on anything on the screen...colors are still good...just the shadows...4 year old monitor. Any solutions?

Re: monitor has shadows from left to right

I actually just got a monitor from one of my friends and on startup it works fine but when I log in it gets the dark shadow from left to right. I belive that all I need is a blaack ight fix so it may be the same thing on yours.

Re: monitor has shadows from left to right

Try changing the cable that connects the monitor to the computer, that might improve things slightly, but because you said that it works for the first 15 minutes I'm skeptical that the cable has anything to do with it.

The monitor is near the end of it's life. There's not much that can be done.

From your description it is a power supply inverter board issue, the cause is usually bad capacitors that sometimes puff at the top indicating they are open. In order to address the situation the unit must be dismantled in order replace the parts or board.

The monitor works just fine when I turn it on and displays the picture perfectly, however, after 15 to 20 minutes the picture comes off and the screen displays a series of diagonal lines. Why does this...

It sounds more like a monitor hardware problem than anything else being wrong, but the definitive answer would be to try it on another PC.

If it does the same you know it's the monitor; if not investigate your PC.

I do computer work and electronics but have never worked on an LCD monitor, so I checked to see if you guys could lead me in the right direction. Since I got no response, except a request to sell me your premium plan, I tore into the thing myself. What I found was a leaking cap. on the power board that fed 2 ICs that controlled the back lighting. It was a 470uf cap at 25v. I took a cap out of an old powersupply from a mainfraim I had trashed because it was way out of date. I found one that was 270uf at 16v. I knew it wasn't exact but since it was the weekend and I live in the boonies I decided to try it anyway. BINGO!! Now it works perfect. I have since bought a cap., but never put it in. I may at some time if this thing fails but it has worked solid as a rock ever since I replace the cap.. By the way during my troubleshooting I also determined that the problem also somewhat effected by different temperatures. Thanks anyway but I don't pay for what I can do myself. If you need help contact me. I charge also.

Set this slide show to run after 2 minutes of non use.
Set the nonitor to power off in a short amount of non use.
say 15 minutes.
Do that for a couple of days and the ghosting affect will go away . You can then turn to a more reasonable screen saver.

I have the same problem except it usually happens after Ive left my computer idle for a while... i.e . Overnight, I usually turn off the monitor and I hit the button after I come back to turn it on. I get the same flashing light for several minutes. This has been a problem for several months, but only recenly have i gotten the same error message you mentioned. Each time ive booted the computer up cold or restarted it has worked fine but this time it took longer along with displaying the message: Top Left to Right: SH770 P001 Bottom Left to Right: AU M170EN05 Anyone else who can clear this up?
