There are several possibilities:
1) The songs you are trying to load to the Mp3 player are not compatible with the Nextar - a good test for this would be to connect your Nextar to the PC, open Windows Media Player, and click the Library tab, then the Sync tab - if a little blue "i" appears next to the song, it will not work with your Nextar. In fact, any song that is not in mp3 format or unprotected WMA (very few WMA's are unprotected unless you Ripped them directly from CD) will not play in the Nextar.
2) You have the Hold switch engaged - unlock it
3) The PC's you are trying to connect it to are running Windows Vista - not compatible with Nextar
resetting the Q4-04 , direct from Nextar FAQ's > press the "Reset" button or push the stylus into the "Reset" hole, to
see if the navigation software can load successfully.
Maybe this will help - error checking and defraging:
If your Nextar shows up under My Computer when connected via a USB cable, right click on "Nextar", select 'Properties', under 'Tools', run 'Error Check' and 'Defrag'.
