Having a very similar problem here, but I can't use the Recovery Tool that was posted. The reason is that when the library has been rebuilt, the player freezes. While frozen, it isn't recognised by the computer, so when you try and run the Recovery Tool, it says there's no player connected. The on/off doesn't respond either, so I removed the battery - but that just means that next time it's turned on, it goes into library rebuilding mode again before freezing. Vicious circle :(

Try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?

I hope it won't keep freezing on you after the update

Sony walkman NWZ-B135F doesnot turn on properly.. When turning it on 'Walkman' text appears and '.......' is appearing. after that no action.tried resetting also, no use

First guess. you have a large library and just added something. it is rebuilding its index

Second guess: you have other files than just music on here. it is rebuilding the library and has to scan all the non-mp3 files. Mine takes about 2-5 minutes to boot after adding / removing files

Turns on and then goes to rebuilding screen then says firmware problem but computer doesnt register that its hooked up

check on the zen site and make sure you have the current version for your zen.
download it and do a rebuild with new firmware.
this mp3 has a hard drive, the exact one that the ipod has. They are not immuned from crashing for sure.
But doing a reinstall of the software will probably help alot.

Creative Zen Rebuilding Problem (Freezing)

Hold the reset button with a paper clip AND the play button at the same time while flipping the power switch. The ZEN should go into recovery mode. You probably want to do format all but you can try the different options. You also may need to download/update the firmware here.

I have a sharp dv-rw260h. I put a DVD in to check what was on it and the machine won't stop 'reading'it. Cannot get machine to do any other function whilst it is 'reading and cannot find a manual dvd...

Turned machine off at the mains for about 15 minutes. When I turned it back on, it started 'reading' again but then a message came on screen saying that it was checking the said that the procedure would take about 15 minutes but stuck on 'five minutes left'. Tried the eject button again after about 2 hours and the drawer opened. Checking message still showed so I turned the machine off and on again and everything was fine.

if it keeps on rebuilding the library the disk had a bad spot on it try going in to recover mode and do a clean if that doesn't work do a format if that doesn't work download the latest firmware if that doesn't fix you will need a new hard drive or flash drive.

Freezes at "rebuilding library"

I just found this on another website and it seems to be working so give it a shot

Listen!!!!! Anyone having problems try this before you blame the product. Turn off player........remove battery.......hold on button ON and put battery back in while still holding the power button on. When power comes on release the power button. You should now see a clean format and re-boot screen. Use the clean function two times. After the second time go down to reboot and should be fine. Worked for me. The Zen Micro Photo is a sweet mp3 player. Dont blame the product for something YOU most likely did. This will fix 99% of your players problems

Sounds like it may be the index in your Music Library. Try going into Recovery Mode; remove battery, hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen. Good luck and let us know what happened
