The error message is correct. Windows 7 is not backwards compatible with certain graphics adapters requiring DirectX support higher than 8.0.
You should attempt first to install the proper driver for your graphics adapter from the manufacturer, and if that does not fix the issue, you should either install a new graphics adapter, or revert back to Windows XP.
Simple answer, no. If the problem is as it seems, that you do not have DirectX installed, you should just need to install it! If the game came on a disc, DirectX should be on the disc. Otherwise, you can download DirectX 9 from:http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35
The system requirement of this game is:

128MB GeForce or ATi Radeon
Class Video Card

Mouse If you have all of that, then it will definetly run otherwise it will not run on your system.
check you directx binding by typing dxdiag into run then take the test if you pass then it might be taking to much power to run the card . if you did not pass change the refreash rate or other setting till the dirver rewrites this may change the directx binding as the driver rewrites
sounds like yo had the same Problems that I had with my 5200 geforce The install did not go well. what was happening was the direct x was binding to the old mother board graphics system and not the new card . to make it rebind just change the refresh rate in the nvidia icon in your task bar . disable the display adapter from device manager for the motherboard graphics .put the card in the slot change the monitor cord boot up check you direct x by typing in run dxdiag and test directx to be sure it is running with your card you can also see that from the about nvidia you must have the driver for the card installed to do all this.. hope I helped install the driver first then disable
Performance issues mostly happen due to requirements not being met.

First of all, you should not even mention that is a cracked version, I will fake I did not hear that. I am sure you installed the pirate version only to test it on your computer, and you will buy the original if this works.
Regarding the games here are the specification:
Minimum System Requirements: You must
have these minimum system specifications for the game to function
correctly. We do not provide support for configurations that do not
meet the minimum requirements.
Operating System: Microsoft Windows® 2000/XP (Windows 95/98/ME/NT Not Supported)
CPU: Pentium 4 1.5Ghz or Athlon XP Equivalent
Graphics: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible video card which supports Hardware TnL and Pixel Shader 2.0 (GeForce FX / Radeon 9500 or higher)
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c Compatible Sound Card
DVD-Rom: Quad-speed (4x) Dvd-Rom Drive
Hard Drive: 5.0GB free disk space
Input Devices: 100% Windows 2000/XP compatible Mouse and Keyboard (Gamepads and controller are not supported)
Recommended System requirements:
CPU: Pentium 4 2.4Ghz or Athlon XP/64-bit equivalent
Graphics: ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series or higher video card
This game requires a CPU of at least 2.4 Ghz and a powerful video card, such as ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series or higher.
You also need DirectX 9.0c installed, that may be the reason why it does not start. Try downloading DirectX 9.0c here, if it does not work, then, providing that CPU is good enough, you will need to upgrade video adapter or get a new computer.
Sometimes you need an overpowered computer to play latest games, standard computers are usually not powerful enough for new games, that is the reason why they invented Xbox and PS. See here my favourite computer for gaming.
Hey put in a pci sound card, but first uninstall the old drivers. then if it works, uninstall it and put in the Asus audio driver again, sometimes directX audio codecs get locked and I hope this works or just leave the card in, but will will mess up your remote install capability for audio you said all computers are the same and you did a network install on all ?
