Subwoofer playing in stereo sound

Hello,

I recently purchased a subwoofer to hook in to my Denon 1907 receiver. I think I have everything set correctly, but I can't get an output to my subwoofer when I am in stereo sound. When I am in multi-channel sources the subwoofer plays, but when I switch the sound to stereo I get nothing out of it. Any ideas? Am I unlucky enough to have a receiver that won't output to a subwoofer when in stereo sound?

When Stereo was the only "2 channel audio output" available. We never had Sub-Woofers and relied upon Bass and Treble controls to give an overall balance and Bass Depth to suit one's preference.
A Bass Sub-woofer is intrinsically part of a Multi-channel audio system. It is the " .1" part of the 2.1, 5.1, 6.1 sound system/s.
That is why you do not get Woofer Signal and thus output, unless you use more than just "Stereo Audio Amplification".

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

Can i hook up two subwoofers to a denon avr 1907

Sure, just get an RCA splitter and share the Sub Pre-Out with the two self-powered subs or one amp powering two of them.

I have had my Denon AVR-1907 for about 20 months. About two months ago, it started shutting down and the On/Off button blinks red. Almost all the time it would clear by itself for no reason and then work...

You will have to check with a volt/ohm meter the + and - 15volt regulator ics in the power supply if they are off by more then 3 volts it will shut down as soon as it is turned on,and you still will have a flashing red light. also you may want to check the output transistors for shorts if your regulator ics are good.

I am having troubling hooking up my PS3 to my denon AVR-1907 receiver. I am using the PS3 component inputs and hooking them up to the "VCR" input.

Connect your component cable to the PS3 OUTPUT (there is no input) and connect that to the component IN on your receiver.

Denon avr-1907 sound from TV stopped working

Help with hooking PS3 to a Denon Receiver. It worked before, but I had to move everything to a different location and when I hooked it back up the PS3 has sound but no picture. I have it hooked directly to the receiver with and HDMI cable (the receiver is hooked up to our cable box which is directly hooked to the tv via HDMI cable).

Denon AVR-1907 blinking red power button

It sounds like you have a bad speaker on the zone 2, or you have the speakers connected improperly.

When you engage the zone 2 a relay clicks and the speakers then become part of the amplifiers circuit.

If the problem was in the amplifier, it would go into protect mode without even having speakers connected to it.

If the speakers all check good, you most likely have the wrong type of speakers, meaning the impeadance is too low, or you have too many speakers connected to it.

On the back of the Denon, you will see right around the speaker output jacks, what ratings the speakers should be. If I remember correctly, it says 6 ohms or more when using only "A" or "B", and it says 12ohms or more for "A" + "B".

If you have two 8 ohm speakers on the same speaker jack you now have a 4 ohm load. That is below the ratings and can cause the amp to shut down (go into protect). Since your amp shuts down right away, I think you have a bad speaker or way too many speakers connected.

I have seen many times when people will connect 2 or 4 speakers to the one of the outputs that are designed for only 1 speakers.

If you are using too many speakers you will need a speaker distribution box. It has a resistor network built into it so the amp never sees a lower impeadance than what it is designed for.
You can connect 4, 6 or 8 speakers to one set of outputs designed for 2 speakers. You do loose a lot of power to the speakers, but it is better than blowing up your amplifier.

If I can be of any further help, let me know.

Sub Problem with Dennonavr- 1907

Go into setup and make sure sub is turned on and set sub for LFE + main otherwise sub will only work with Dolby Digital LFE signals. LFE plus main setting will allow sub to output low freq's that would normally go to Front Speakers. Refer to Owners manual setup Info.
