Question about Xerox FaxCentre 1012 Plain Paper Laser

1 Answer

Dirty roller? When we receive a fax the print is clear but behind the print are lots of black lines which look like they have come from the rollers. Any advice how we can clear this? Maybe it's because the rollers need cleaning?

I get plain paper or double when I received fax from my uf5300 laser print one page from 5 pages that sent and I got empty pages and double somtimes

Paper feed rollers and sheet feed pad dirty. Feed roller on top pad should be just below. Clean with alcohol. Papers have clay in them. Recycled is worst. It will glaze the pick up roller and pad.

Lines on all faxes

lift up the button panel and underneath you can find a scanner glass. Usually it is positioned between two sets of roller/feeders and maybe hard to see with the eye because it is very clear.

clean this scanner glass and it should remove the lines from faxes.

If you mean the lines are on all print outs from the machine then you need to clean the drum.

When printing dark line down copy

A line down the copy can come from a dirty document scanner lens.
Usually white out or wet ink will smudge on the document scanner. Opening the document cover check the scanner for a dirty glass. Some document feeders have the white roller on top of the small glass window. They have delicate plastice retainers that hold the roller on both ends. Extra care needs to be taken if this roller is removed.
Clean the roller and the glass with wet towel. Shine a flashlight on the glass to see if there are anymore black marks on it.
Use the finger-nail to run across the glass and make sure no debris is on it. Even a spot can make a line on the copy.
Also, a bad fuser roll can cause a black line on the copy. A defective drum unit can cause a line on the copy as well.
If all else fails place a Xerox service call for this problem.

Black smuched line running down page when i print or anyone faxes me anything.

If you have a laser machine with a combined toner/drum cartridge the you'll probably find it's probably the cartridge unit. It is less likely to be a dirty fuser roller.

Open the front of the fax machine. Then pull down the the tray that has the down arrow imprinted on it. Locate the glass strip towards the back, just behind the center roller. Use a cloth and rubbing alcohol to clean the glass and that should remove the black line.

Very poor printing

If the prints are light or have white lines it will be related to the laser unit. There is a strip of glass that sits above the drum inside the machine. Clean it. If there is toner on it will cause this problem. Otherwise the laser unit has failed.

If you have dark marks, blotches or reprinting (part of the image repeating lighter down the page). It will be build up on the fuser rollers. Remove the drum/toner and look at the rollers behind, they will look dirty. The only way to resolve this is to replace the fuser unit as it is worn out.

The only other possibility is that the drum contact on the sides of the machine are deformed or out of position. Its hard to tell and fairly unlikely in this model.

Fax rollers

try cleaning the rollers with alcohol, they may be dirty and slipping when trying to grab the paper.
If it is too smooth, then they may need to be changed.

Jammed paper message

There are two reasons for receiving sheets not being  picked up either the  rollers are dirty or the cleaning assembly is bad  which is under the print carriage (either the sensor needs cleaning/servicing )

Happy faxing

Oki Fax 4580 problem

Does this happen when you perform a test print such as an activity report or config page? if it does you may have a transfer roller issue. The transfer roller is the long black spongy roller directly under the drum, the metal rod in the roller conducts a charge that interacts with the drum. If the roller is dirty (usually chocked up with toner) the necessary charge is diminished and the image will be lighter. You will have to remove the roller in order to clean it, (TURN THE POWER OFF) there is a bendable plastic tab at the right side end of the roller that will release the roller. I personally drench the roller with metho and then wrap a rag around it and squeeze the metho/toner out (dont do this with lexmark rollers, they deform) let dry and give it a try, also check the end of the metal rod and where it connects for contamination.
