1st make sure the connections on the dvd player and device dvd connects to are correct.
ie av cables red white for audio and yellow for video. this is for standard display.Component video uses different color cbles and is for high quality digital display. or for low quality hd display.
if it still moving diagnally then make sure progressive scan is turned to off. that solves 90 percent of the problems. let me know how it is setup for further support

Problem with my Magnavox DVD player, DP100MW8, picture dark and lines across the screen

Hi, if the lines are diagonal sounds like it is set to progressive scan mode-which means if there is not a switch on back saying P/S and interlaced then you need to connect to T.V. with component video inputs ( indicated by red,green,and blue colored R.C.A. plug inputs) and Pan and Scan capable-then in menu setting select interlaced picture output. hope this was of use, good luck prodzilla

I have Diagonal lines moving across the screen.

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

DVD in, have sound but no picture???

Hi,

Initially, a couple of ideas:
  • check the cables from the DVD to the VHS to the TV (I am assuming that the sound is likewise connected to the TV and not to a home receiver system or an amplifier);
  • I am assuming again that you are using RCA and not RF, if yes pls pay special attention to the yellow RCA on both the DVD to VHS and VHS to TV;
  • diagonal roll often indicates a loose ground or a defective cable/RCA connector;
  • verify settings/configurations in all three; DVD, VHS, TV. TV should be set to AV or Video, VHS likewise to A/V INput;
  • try playing a known good VHS tape, if normal playback, problem is between DVD and VHS, if likewise no video, problem is between VHS and TV.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Toshiba 50hp66 picture waves

Please describe the 'waves' and what you are watching when it happens, is it on everything? e.g. normal TV and when watching a DVD? Are the Waves a grey close pattern going diagonally across the screen for some other sort of pattern?

Diagonal lines on upper 1/3 of screen

It sounds like the dmd board may be defective but you can try rebooting the set and see if it makes the picture any better...
1 - Turn on the Tv.
2 - Press & Hold the up arrow key on the remote and then press the power button on the front of the Tv.
3 - Tv will reset & reboot

If the picture is the same it's probably the dmd board which is part of the "B" block assembly and I don't believe they're sold separately. The "B" block is about $1100.00 dollars.
Hope this helps!

Diagnal Interference Lines

the diagonal lines represent some low frequency interference (close to the supply frequency - 60 hz). Try to keep the unit away from other appliances, especially the left back zone - where the tuner is. Also, you have to do some experiments on the cable connections: disconnect other cable devices (internet modem, home phone, other tv/tuners), one of them might inject these signals into the cable.
