No active sound device, i can't hear any sounds

make sure drivers for the sound device is installed perfectly...also certain motherboards requires latest service pack for installing the sound drivers.. if you are using a windows xp then try installing service pack 3....for vista & win7 there wont be a great issue...

Problem loading XP Serve Pack 2 in Gigabyte 8I845GVM-RZ

I know this may sound mundane, but did you load the correct set of windows drivers for the Intel 845 chipset? I mistakenly loaded the Home drivers onto a unit I tried to install Pro on and I got all sorts of errors.

Installing sound drivers

First, visit this website:

Next up select Windows XP Professional as your operating system. Now click, "Drivers." The first result should be the Realtek drivers, which are what you're searching for. Download them. Once they finished downloading open the file and the drivers should be installed automatically.

If there's anything else I can help you with, let me know. If this solution solved your problem, please rate the solution.
