Trobles with connecting dcr trv 22e

I am trying to connect my sony dcr trv22e to my laptop with vista home edition. When I do it trough firewire, there is nothing happening, no sound of recognition, nothing. When I try through usb, vista is looking for drivers without finding them. If I try to install them from my original cd, vista tells me that it cannot work with that version of windows.
ANy ideas how to solve it?
Thanks
Dom

    Hi.
I cannot find that 'reset the machine to work as xp'. I have vista home edition, and maybe what you suggest is available only in more upgraded versions?

Try this
C
Insert the CD to install.
Go to - Start/Programs/Accessories/system Tools/Compatibility Wizard/reset the machine to work as XP- See what happens.
Alternatively check out Sony support ofr the Vista Compatible driver.

SONY DCR-TRV22E CONNECTING TO WINDOWS 7

after extensive searching I can't find a usb driver for windows 7 . Unfortunately the maker no longer supports later than windows 2000 for their driver. You might be able to run vmware and pretend to have an operating system that is an earlier version like windows 2000 or XP and run a driver in it for the pretend operating
system .

I do not think this camera has firewire
but it may have a memory stick
maybe you could look at if you can get a memory stick reader that suits its memory stick.

I need a usb cable for my dcr trv 22e, i would like to know the part number, thank you

The easiest and cheapest way to find a USB cable (or i.Link for that matter, which is the one Sony recommend to transfer videos to computer) for this camera is to search Amazon for "DCR-TRV22E cable". I found several listed for under $10.

UNABLE TO TRANSFER VIDEO FROM SONY HANDYCAM DCR TRV TO MY LAPTOP

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camera to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Computer.

Refer this link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893

NOTE: As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I contacted Sony and was told to use a firewire cable. Make sure that Firewire or i-link is installed on your computer. I use a laptop with Vista and this worked first time.
