Question about HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP ALL in ONE's won't print unless you restart computer & Printer

I am in Afghanistan (US Gov't.) and we use several HP all in ones (F370, 5610, 4180) and the ALL have the same issues:

If the computer is on for a while and you try to print nothing happens. It gets sent to the print queue, but just sits there. If you try to delete it, it will just say deleting file and never does. I have to restart the computer, turn the printer off. Once the computer restarts & I turn on the printer, it will print whatever is in the queue. This is extremely frustrating... especially since I work for US Government and you'd think out IT guys here can fix it... (or the US would foot the bill for bigger, commerical products) but, no, they just say, "they are pieces of crap, bought on local economy." So, I turn to you guys. This has been going on for a week now. HELP is GREATLY appreciated!

Note: Disconnect the USB cable from the computer before performing the below steps

Restart Printer spooler :
Here are the steps to start the print spooler service:

2. Locate Print spooler from the Services window which is opened now.
3. Right click on it and select Stop.
4. Right click on Print spooler again and select Start.

Once done, connect the USB cable back to the computer then perform Step 2.

Re: HP ALL in ONE's won't print unless you restart...

Dear Gentlemen:

We experienced same problem however I can manage to do away from this frustrating bugs as hows' and follows; do not cancel the printing job while on the middle of printing mode or collecting data to printer(queing) yet. Remove the paper instead on the tray or bypass tray and wait for the error to come out on screen ("Error out of Paper") there click the Cancel button. Other models have fixes already or driver updates. Please do update as necessary as it is, and always install the printer manager and update manager to monitor current updates and fixes. Have a nice day.

Best regards,
Rosener Guyano

Printer won't print. I had to move the desk and everything was unplugged and now it won't print. It is on, checked as default, on-line, I think it may be the port.

  1. Background
    • HP provides details of the problem on its website. The problem usually occur on PC laptops or when printing across a network. HP offers several fixes for the problem.
    • First, check your Windows print queue and ensure the printer is not set as "Paused" or "Working Offline." This can often clear the problem and resume your printing.

    • The problem can also be caused by printer driver issues. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver. Connecting your printer directly to your computer using a parallel cable may solve the problem, but this may not be practical in all cases as many modern laptop computers do not have a parallel port.
    • 1 "Power Cycle" Your printer. Shut down the printer, unplug the power cord from the socket, give it 5 minutes, plug it in again and turn it back on. Try to print.
    • 2 If the printer still won't process a job, shut down and restart your computer.
    • 3 Check your printer cable connections to the computer.
    • 4 Check the printer for any paper jams, check the trays, and also pull out the toner cartridge and/or remove any paper jam, if you find one. Put the cartridge back in. Then try to print.
    • 5 If after completing the steps above, the printer is still not working, click "Start," then "Settings," click "Printers," and the printer folder will open. Make sure your HP LaserJet 5 is selected as the default printer.
    • 6 Double-click your printer, and delete everything from the print queue, canceling all the print jobs. Close out the queue.
    • 7 Right-click on your printer icon and make sure it's not offline. If it is, then click "use this printer online."
    • 8 Right-click your printer, and click properties. Make sure the right port is selected for your LaserJet 5 Printer. If you are using a parallel cable, you are most likely using an LPT port; if USB, then look for a USB connection in the list. If the port connection is correct, try to print again.
    • 9 It's still not printing? Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Double-click "Programs and Features" or "add or remove programs," uninstall your Laserjet printer software, and restart your computer.
    • 10 Insert your Laserjet software and driver disk. Proceed to reinstall your printer software and drivers. Then test the printer again. If it is still not working, you probably will have to seek professional assistance.

My printer scans, copy but won't print from computer?

Did you set this printer as the default printer? To do this go to Start - Printer and Faxes, right click on HP printer, select Set As Default Printer. If you are not see your HP Deskject F340 there, that mean your printer driver is not installed. Please install your printer driver.
If you already set it as the default and it is still not printing. Restart your computer to try solve problem.
You said that printer scans so the connection between your computer and printer is fine. Problem is your computer doesn't take the printer as it's printer device yet.
Hope this will help. Thanks for reading

Hp 2210xi printer will print from computer, but not print a copy placed on the glass. machine acts like it's printing, but page comes out blank and no error message.

Try restating your computer, uninstall the printer software, restart your computer, install printer software again, and restart computer again. (leave the printer off during this process unless told otherwise by the on-screen instructions).

If the above doesn't work, then it could be a hardware issue with the scanner. Try scanning a document to your computer and see if that works. If it doesn't, then your device probably needs a hardware repair...hopefully something is just loose in there.

Hope that helps!

C6180 -- I've had this printer for several years with no printing problems. However recently it has objected to printing photos although using the same HP photo paper as before. It starts to print and then...

please specify that u r getting the message on printer or on computer screen the paper is really jammed in the printer.
better do a power drain > turn off the printer and unplug the usb cable and power cable from the printer and then press and hold the power button of the printer for 30 seconds and then release. repeate the steps 3-4 times. then restart the printer and try printing from the computer, if the issue persists then restart the computer and try printing. if then also the issue persists u need to clean the rollers of the printer and it will certainely resolve the issue.
